Mowbray

Been saying this for ages (and I like TM) but we have been lucky the way the team plays, the challenge comes when teams suss us, he isnt tactically aware enough and cant change the game. Missing a striker, midfield of dwarves, we need change.

All teams now have a blueprint on how to play us. I fear for us over the next 4 games.

He’s not won more than 5 games between Feb and end of season for the last 4 years. (4 twice and 5 twice).

Can talk about not having a forward for days but our back line has been minging for weeks now. So easy to get in behind.

Utterly minging today. I mean wtf?

Nowt to do with the backline. The defence have been pretty consistent. It’s the midfield that’s totally fucked us.

Full backs are constantly getting caught in behind because we have them bombing on. Twice today. Twice v Rotherham. Once v Coventry. Once v Bristol.

We chucked loads of players forward all at the same time v Reading and nicked a goal and it has become the go to since. Trying to make up for not having a striker by constantly sending them forward into advanced positions. Often higher up than the striker.

That’s not on the defenders though it’s the way we set up. So the manager at fault.

Ballard and Batth have arguably been our most consistent players this season.

He'd certainly run the channels. It's just a question of.him understanding (literally, given he still seems to be struggling with English) when to go.

I said on another thread that they look mentally frazzled, not physically fatigued. Do we have a sports psychologist?

Not to mention being in the shit with a wage bill higher than turnover.
Our wages aren't higher than turnover.

We were warned about his tail end of season slumps mind.
We haven’t got a centre forward mate. Gelthardt is not up to the job. We were completely fine before Stewart got injured again.

I’m not excusing today mind, that was disgusting.

You can get away with playing those 4 as long as you have another proper cm in there instead of Pritchard. Neil was really poor today but he was also left covering the width of the pitch and cover ridiculous amount of players as Pritchard was roaming around. Even Roberts was dropping further back than Pritchard

Balance is a bit off at the minute. Trying to put best players in. We know we have good forward players but needs to shore up midfield.

Do you know that for sure? If not I'm not being naive
Do you genuinely think that he has absolutely no say on transfers whatsoever?
Is that why he said and I quote it would be "appropriate to be supplied with one or two" strikers on the eve of the Fulham game? We then lost Stewart so that was surely now two or three? He evidently has minimal involvement.
Is that why he said that the club and I quote “couldn’t find a striker in the 2.5 days that we looked”, referencing the short time between Fulham and deadline day?

Mowbray is the fella that once said his West Brom side would finish above us and score more goals

Then didnt
Mowbray is an idiot and shouldn’t have ever been appointed at this club tbh. We need a young and progressive manager who adopts things like sports science and buys into the data driven approach on the field to supplement this approach to our signings. No point in signing players that suit a certain directive if our manager doesn’t play towards said directive
