Air fryers

There's a big thread about them somewhere.

I bought a Ninja one and love it. Just had some chips cooked in it with some steak but I cooked that in a griddle pan.

I know it'll be in the huge thread but how do you do the chips? I have the af300 and can never get them great, they are ok but never great.

I haven’t used my oven since I got my air fryer about 18 months ago, I use my air fryer every day. I use the hob still to boil eggs, pasta etc but the actual oven part I haven’t used at all. The air fryer is quicker and everything tastes nicer out of that.

Not sure how you do a large pizza in an air fryer

I’m of the very same opinion. I just think that with the way people perceive and react to trends etc, there’ll be people who want a kitchen without an oven soon which is just a reaction to a marketing stimulus.
People will want a house without a kitchen soon. Just deliveroo everything.

Frozen oven chips are easiest 😁

If you're doing them with potatoes, you need to get all the starch off. Ideally cut the chips and soak them in a bowl of water, or if you haven't got time, give them a really good rinse. Dry them in a clean tea towel or with kitchen roll. Put them in a mixing bowl and drizzle about a teaspoon of oil on them, then mix them around until they're all coated.

If you want flavoured chips/wedges, add herbs/garlic/salt and pepper/chilli etc., when you're doing the oil mixing bit.

Can people who own them confirm if they’re worth the investment? Also point me in the direction of the best value brand/model. Ta

Weve got a cheap basic one that cost £20 instead of £60 from ASDA as a bit of an experiment and its been a good buy.

Whether I'd pay £250 for one is a totally different matter.

We’ve got this one. It’s superb.
Hardly use the oven now

I have the 9 in 1 and I want to upgrade to this. Would love to make some beef jerky.

Also if you park boil the chips in vinegar they go extra crispy!!

What if you don’t buy an oven in the first place and invest in an air fryer?

I can see a time in the future where ‘kitchen designers’ don’t include an oven and provide additional bench space for appliances like these.
I work in a place that sells kitchens and designs them....theyve had a few requests for designs minus the oven and just a space for an air fryer.....its happening.

Impressed with ours, wish it was a dual zone though as I feel it only has space for a meal for 1 or single ingredient.

Ninja Foodi 12 in 1.

great for whipping up nuggets for kids, done in 12mins rather than nearly an hour in an oven (including heating time for the oven)

Got the Ninja AF400 too, we haven’t used the oven much since getting it in October, just for yorkies etc. Chips are great, wings, sausages and even bacon. Meat is its forte, gammon, chops, steaks etc.

We needed to cook a full meal for more than 2 so bought this. Can’t see how we haven’t saved electricity as it takes less time to heat up, cooks quicker and with better results. Had it 3 weeks and gone from turning the oven on at least once a day to about twice in three weeks. Used it for pies, Yorkshire Puddings, anything you would put in an oven.

I will try that , mine just came out in a mangled ball. I need some accesories for mine I only have one trough or whatever its called .

Dunno if they're available in the UK but I have one of these. Basically a copy of the two drawer Ninja but for half the price.

It's superb and has an app for recipes which it adds to regularly.

Haven't used the oven for years and electricity bills have cut down by at least 25%.

If your after a cheap starter one I can definitely recommend the gourmia 6.7l one from Costco I paid £50 for mine and it's cracking but you'll need a dual one like the ninja above if your wanting to cook a few different things on different settings at the same time.
Agree bought one couple of weeks ago absolutely the bollox 50pund absolute bargain

Aye they are class, anyone that says otherwise is too stubborn to change or hates being seen as someone “hopping on the trend”
