Air fryers

Can people who own them confirm if they’re worth the investment? Also point me in the direction of the best value brand/model. Ta

If your after a cheap starter one I can definitely recommend the gourmia 6.7l one from Costco I paid £50 for mine and it's cracking but you'll need a dual one like the ninja above if your wanting to cook a few different things on different settings at the same time.

It's an air oven, the fryer part of the name annoys me, I had an actual air fryer till it died yonks ago, was perplexed when I got one of these and there was nowhere to put the oil.
They are good to cook quicker than the oven and giving a crispier outside, excellent for cooking a chicken for example, done in hour, crispy skin moist inside.

we quite fancied one but there was a feature on the wireless about them a few weeks back and the lass being interviewed said that whilst they are cheaper than a normal oven you'd need to use it every day for about 3 years instead of a conventional oven to recoup the outlay.
no idea if this is true mind.

What if you don’t buy an oven in the first place and invest in an air fryer?

I can see a time in the future where ‘kitchen designers’ don’t include an oven and provide additional bench space for appliances like these.

Or just spec something like this.

fair point although i'd imagine just about every household already has a conventional oven so it's still an extra expense to do the same job that can be done by something folk already have. might sound cynical but perhaps it's just a marketing ploy by the manufacturers to milk the fears of huge energy bills.

I haven’t used my oven since I got my air fryer about 18 months ago, I use my air fryer every day. I use the hob still to boil eggs, pasta etc but the actual oven part I haven’t used at all. The air fryer is quicker and everything tastes nicer out of that.

I’m of the very same opinion. I just think that with the way people perceive and react to trends etc, there’ll be people who want a kitchen without an oven soon which is just a reaction to a marketing stimulus.
