Sunderland vs boro 22 Jan 23

The allocation is actually bigger than I was expecting.

After the Coventry debacle, and then the incident with Burnley, the safety committee was never going to take chances with this one.

The club will be desperate this one passes without any issue

Out of interest,I'm sure there has always been a rivalry with Boro and Leeds. Is it deemed less than with Sunderland ? Blackpool have their derby with Preston 20 miles away, but the perhaps more dangerous game is Bolton who are 45 mins from the Seaside.
There's a bit of grim history between the two clubs though:

Don't get where you mean.
As far as I'm aware, the Tees was always the Durham/Yorkshire border.
Stockton, Billingham being in Durham, and Thornaby, Middlesbrough, Yarm in the North Riding.
I don't know any part of Stockton (North of the river) that was part of Yorkshire.
Only time I know the boundary to 'change' was when the Tees was redirected, putting the area where Teesside Park is now into Yorkshire.
It was North of the river before that.

Oh dear.
The bitterness has no bounds.
Fancy stooping to the 'Our message board's better than yours" patter to desperately prove a point.
'Your' club was successful in the distant past, when there wasn't a great deal of competition.
Over the (at least) last 60 years, both Boro and Sunderland have had very similar fortunes - spells in and out of the top flight and a cup win.
You are not superior to us, we are not superior to you.
Sunderland and Middlesbrough are just two clubs from working class areas with local people who support their respective clubs.
You have a bigger ground (and more supporters) than us , oh and a busier message board.
So what

Ridiculous isn't it.
'My gang was bigger than your gang".
I grew up going to football in the 1970's, and the hoolie days were pathetic.
Spoilt football for a lot of people
👏👏👏 Here we are in 2023 mate, and the bullshit goes on. I don't hate you or your team. I like Boro. Fans just like us; I hope you do well. I worked in Boro for a bit. Was shown nothing but love a kindness. It leaves a resonance. I appreciate some are talking from games we have played each other. I get the difference. However, we can be civil mate👍

See the resident wing nut is talking shyte again. Sure he has a side job as a Tory MP the amount of lies he spouts
Boro are a Tory club these days after all.
Are Boro like Rangers in terms of being a new club from 86?

But correct all the same.....👍
Aye but boro had won fuck all in their history before then so there was nothing to wipe from the books

Th club cannot allocate less than 2k as per EFL rules so this will be down to the safety advisory and police . Probably told club no more than 1955 for anyone else this season as we haven't gave more than that since the last bother and the no coins, etc have we

Never classed it as a Derby but it has an edge to it.

LlIf play the Mags, I'm nervous for days ahead of the game, and depending on the result depressed/high as a kite for weeks after it.

The Boro game comes nowhere near that.

Still want to stuff you Yorkshire kernts though

Evening boro fans. Hope you enjoyed your cup run:D
Brighton were superb, that’s the best team performance we have played against since 2017 in all competitions. Fair play to them. Well done for scraping past the shrews 👍
Had talksport on this Morning Graeme Courtney, cock in hand piping off Boro and how he could see this going to a replay as there wasn’t much between the two sides.

Girfuy
Brighton were head and shoulders above us, they were scintillating. To make it worse they brought their World Cup winning number ten on at half time!

Did McAllister get a good reception off Boro, or not arsed?

Not a bad player for Brighton to have coming on as sub when they were already winning!

I appreciate good football and footballers and clapped him on.

The difference in class second half was significant. Infact I would go further and say it was quite scary ... the gulf between The Championship and Premier League gets bigger and bigger ... and that's not good for the game IMO.

I think you can see from Bournemouth v Burnley today the gap between the top of the championship and the bottom of the prem isn’t too vast but outside of the bottom 6/7 teams the gap gets bigger every season.
Hats off to Brighton a team that didn't have a ground not long ago.
I also think their geographical position helps them in attracting players as Brentford. But good to see less fashionable teams doing well

They are a cracking football club. Seem to play some decent stuff. Really good set up.

Brighton's owner Tony Bloom is a very shrewd operator and a top man. He loves his horse racing and football and is one of the few owners of a top club who is in it for the sporting glory and not just the money.

I remember when Boro pipped Brighton for promotion to The Premier League in May 2016 (we drew 1-1 at the Riverside in the last match of the regulation season ensuring Boro's promotion and Brighton going into the play-offs). At full-time the first thing he did was walk over to Steve Gibson in the Boro Directors Box, shake his hand and give him a hug.

That's the mark of a true sport and I have always respected him for those actions.

The Seagulls have seen it all over the last 40 years or so. Wish him, the fans and the club all the best for the future.
