Detectorists

Absolutely guttted. Me favourite programme of all time and didn’t enjoy it. Maybe expected too much but just thought it lacked any of the warmth and subtleness that makes it great. it felt like he was trying to get a whole 6 episode series into a 1hr episode and therefore it lost a lot of the little moments. Plus a couple of characters just didn’t seem entirely right, Lance for one.

Watch it again in a couple of months time.

I enjoyed it..seemed to be trying too hard at times..the bit with Simon and Garfunkel turning up in the flash motor was daft..loved the ending though.

me mrs said that, changed his character.

Perhaps it was too long? Those wonderful 30 minute episodes had me crying out for more. The programme was redeemed I think by the ending. By the time they were on the train things were perfect again. Missing Alice Roberts on the steps of the British Museum was classic. The Holy Grail thread was Detectorists at its best. I will watch it again with a bit more perspective as I think expectations were so high it probably could never match them

Mostly really good.

Its strength has always been its characters. The Simon and Garfunkel shtick was fine in the original series, but they began to morph into caricature - and last night beyond even that. They've become cartoonish. They don't fit the rest of the show.

It was decent. It felt like it was riffing on the original only fools and horses ending.

Bit predictable it felt obvious that it would turn up again but I figured it would be someone from the club drinking from it.

The Simon and Garfunkel bit was quite cheesy and not in tone with the rest of it
