Hartlepool United

Very unhappy fan base at the minute. Apparently the football is turgid and the owner won't spend money! I really hope they stay up as I'm not sure how quick they would return. It's a massive slog the National League and full of well off teams with big ambitions. Also for the sake of the town it needs a team in the football league.

Thankfully there are a number of teams still in touching distance. Todays results did put make it look a little more grim but the standard of the league is awful this year, not out of it yet

Proper shame whats happened to them and darlo.

I remember that derby we played at home, one of my first matches watching the lads. 1-0 Arca. Feels mad to think we we were in league 1 like them.

I hope they stay up but it's not looking good. It would be great to see Darlo back up too, but that is a long way off, if it ever happens, as their momentum from the first few seasons after reforming has died off. South Shields in danger of the same thing happening, and Gateshead struggling to survive in the National League this season.

NE football below the "Big 3" is not looking very healthy.

Went to school with their ex physio Buster, great lad, his brother played for hull iirc.

Used a town firm lately whove been owed a few grand a few year, kike the local laundarette who pools had a dispute with. Gets the alarm bells ringing that.

Despite all this they manage to have a better functioning club shop and ticket office than us.

Anyone remember the days before automatic relegation from the football league, clubs at the bottom had to apply for re-election, was very rare that anyone got voted out then..
Yes, I'm sure Hartlepool had the record for re-elections, until Cloughie got in and transformed them. Not much help now though.

South Shields are in great position

Spennymoor have had a decent rise in recent years and seem to have a bit of money behind them

I remember it well. The present system is much better. There was a lot of "old pals act" going on back then, except of course for poor Gateshead who were voted out the first time they ever applied for re-election; rumour had it much to the delight of the Newcastle Chairman.

That first goal yesterday was embarrassing.

We're going nowhere except down unless things change but there doesn't seem to be any urgency to do so.

Decent players and managers cost money but Raj doesn't seem keen to put his hand in his pocket.

Darlo fans warned us but at the time it seemed like sour grapes. I miss those matches with Darlo but I hoped the next time we played them wouldn't be in non-league footy.
