Sunderland will face Saudi Arabian opposition Al Shabab in Friendly (poll in Parsnip)

perhaps you should ask all the various Russian athletes that were sanctioned that very question...
I would if I knew any, I didn't agree with that anyway. The same goes every russian isn't a bad person because of the crazy man in charge of the country

I’m a big fan of the direction KLD & his team are taking our club, but this just isn’t right.
A Saudi team playing any western team, no matter where or when is sportswashing. It’s a tiny, tiny step compared to the huge leap from them up the road, but our club should be distancing itself from this heinous country rather than associating in any way. Shameful.

I personally wouldn't have sanctioned this game but I know nothing about this club and don't know what links they have to the Saudi regime.

If they're connected to the regime then I would hope we as a fan base do all we can to tell the club what we think about this friendly.

If their only connection is they're from the same country then we shouldn't tar everyone with the same brush as the Saudi regime.
People refused to play sport for decades in SA because of the Apartheid regime. Neither during that time or after the fact did Mandela et al come out and say "don't tar us with the same brush, come play here" because it was pretty clear to right thinking adults at the time that the only people who stood to gain from it were those in power.

Ditto with Saudi Arabia. The only people going to benefit from these matches are the despots in charge of the status Qou. Nobody else is going to benefit besides them and it takes a matter of seconds to think and realise that.
