Miles better than BallWipe the rose tinted glasses off. He was crap
No, he was good and really committed. Could have played more in the top flight imo but not England class. Shaun Elliott could have imo and maybe Craddock.
And what happened. He found his level. In league 1He had a role in a team that was consistently a PL side. He did that role well, consistenly. His wages and the fact that the club didn't improve the squad doesn't come into it. Di Canio tried to push him out, Cattermole was close to leaving and stayed years after he was removed.

I do think he was poor but finally. This thread is f***ing ridiculous.Load of shite. He played less than 30 games in L1. Nearly 300 in the PL and then went on to play in the top league in Holland but L1 was his level. You're on a wind up man.
There's a reason he wasn't playing fot a top side.If he had been playing for one of the top sides?

I caught a few.Whoosh![]()
I caught a few.
Fuck meIf he had been playing for one of the top sides?
Exactly, Nick Pickering got oneMaybe would have got 1 or in meaningless friendlies but can't imagine anything more. He wasn't the best technical footballer about, was he? Saying that I do think he was underrated elsewhere in the country. Probably a case of right club, right role, right time.
Fuck me , this made me laughIf he had been playing for one of the top sides?
Shocking Billy Hughes never got a cap for the SweatiesNah..nowhere near England international level..if he’d been Scottish he might’ve got one.

This ^He may as well start playing for Singapore.
If he had been playing for one of the top sides?
There were a lot of excellent centre halves and he wasn’t in the class of some of those but wouldn’t be far off some that have got the odd cap since. Certainly wouldn’t have been a regular but wouldn’t have let anyone down.Craddock was nowhere near international class either. Good player for us and a lovely bloke but you look at the centre halfs England had during his time, Adams, Campbell, Keown and Southgate at Euro 2000 and then Ferdinand, Campbell, Keown, Southgate and Wes Brown at the 2002 WC. As much as I loved JC, he was never anywhere near the class of those he was competing with.
