Not saying there won’t be, but the council issue the certificate and Iam afraid councils consider things in this day and age which we wouldn’t.
For example, what does Sunderland have a lot of and how might netting cause a problem ?

Some of the very best atmospheric games were with away fans in the south stand.

Two that spring to mind immediately are the Mags 2 - 2 game and Sheffield United night game cup replay.

I did not use the word “fact” as that would be impossible to prove conclusively but I accept that my opinion could have been construed in that way.

How is it any different to buildings putting netting on the roofs?

It’s impossible for them to relocate the Roker end season ticket holders this season.

There’s not enough gaps in the rest of the stadium to accommodate all the groups of fans.

It’s not like.
Moving approx 5k Sunderland fans isn’t going to be cheap, how many will say ah fuck it, I’m not moving again. You misjudge how many fans will want to be now put elsewhere due to the dynamics of the stadium changing.
Put away fans in NEC or NWC, or east stand so they have the sun in their eyes.
The south stand won’t be moving, I’ll put me mortgage on that

and some of the best atmospheres have been with the away fans upstairs...

mags home games, chelsea and everton when we were in the prem, lincoln and sheff wed home games in the playoffs... all spring to mind

i wonder what the common denominator is between your examples and mine?? i'll give you a clue - its what is happening on the pitch that determines the atmosphere

With the attendance now regularly around 35-36k there's no way they'll move them from the North Upper into the lower bowl this season.

Not everyone in the affected area of the south stand will be season card holders so my view is that number will be lower and we have a very loyal following where football is a key part of their life meaning once the initial disgruntlement subsides they will still want to go to games.

The main reason why the south stand is the best option is because that was the way the stadium was designed.

The means the south stand offers the least disruption, is the safest option for both sets of fans and is cost effective.

U14, u37, u38 & u39 are sold out with season tickets. At least 3 of them would become away blocks.

And the thing is the atmosphere was better when the away fans were in the South Stand and the home fans in the North Stand were safe from missiles landing on them as well. Win win situation putting them back in the South Stand.

The black cats bar seats are at the back of the North stand and no way are they going to stand all game..so put the south stand lads there and make sure they remain seated the whole time?

I'd love the north stand to be our home end
