The Safety of Fans in the North Stand

Probably the lass who works in the ticket office and also the club shop

I can only think it’ll be somewhere like the NW corner. Surely the club aren’t stupid enough to put them anywhere at the south end?

North West corner lower ? Probs not a bad shout to be honest although I'm not sure what effect it would have on the executive boxes above.

I always presumed it would be anywhere from the north east corner, east stand, SE corner or south stand.

In my opinion (and this isn’t based on anything I’ve heard etc) is that there’s 2 options.

1) install a net, but I get the feeling the club aren’t happy with the optics of that.

2) move them to the NEC.

The other option, which is nonsensical imo, is to move them back to where they were. But that would be a massive logistical challenge.

NEC gets my vote

If it's the NEC then they'd have to displace thousands of ST holders, either into the east stand or into the north stand , as the corner alone isn't big enough..

There's a load of factors that dictate the reason to bring the away fans downstairs, surely the club cannot be blind to this...

1. Primarily the safety of the home fans is compromised every home game due to the risk of been hit by thrown objects

2. The club struggle to sell tickets behind the goal for for that reason

3. Empty seats behind the goal just looks shit for the world to see

4. The stadium was bloody designed to have away fans at the other end

5. They call the South stand the home roker end but still pre-match warm up at the other end because the dressing rooms are the wrong way round

7. The holding cells and stadium security is at the south end for any trouble

6. Atmosphere would be 10x better with away fans downstairs

There's likely to be more reasoning to put them back at the south end or in the corner, it's a no brained to me, will just have to re-locate some season ticket holders....theyve done it before

I think it will almost certainly be the NE corner if they get moved, other areas of stadium you have executive boxes above and also they need to be near where buses park. Probably not that many season card holders to move in NE corner either.

Problem with the East side of the stadium Is away fans are having to pass a hell of a lot of home fans and then queue to get in. Bother potential is way higher. NW corner it’s straight off the bus and in. God knows why they don’t just put a net up and leave SAFC fans alone

Something will have to give, it’s one of the least populated parts of the lower bowl that’s suitable. We’ll probably employ some minimum wage staff to stand in the north stand and try and catch anything hoyed down with big fishing nets.

Exactly.. north east corner is directly opposite the ticket office, main car park, close to the fan zone etc and you are forcing thousands of fans to mix outside the ground..unless the bring the busses into the car park

Yeh that could work if they bring the away buses in through the main entry and park right outside the NE corner. Still far more home fans around there than NW corner but as already said that brings Exec boxes into it.

Frankly it’s tragic this conversation needs to take place at all. I can’t think of another sport where it would need to take place

Moving fans from the south stand will ensure there will be zero atmosphere, how do you make some noise when all of them are displaced to random seats across the stadium, which primarily will be north stand upper.
As days go by these clowns running the off field actions of club manager to piss people off more and more.
Davison isn’t fit for purpose.

There’s not thousands of ST holders in the north east corner. Well the number maybe over 1000 but the NEC & North stand lower are the least populated with ST holders.

I don’t think there’s much chance of it happening and there’s been no insinuation of it from those at the top. They’re very happy with the trajectory of something being created in the South Stand.

It's a horrible location, I for got hit in the eye off a coin a few years ago off Coventry & I only stand there for the last 5 minutes, I would hate to sit there with the away fans behind, it's only a matter of time before someone gets seriously injured

A small police presence in that area would negate any trouble. We go away every fortnight and have to pass home fans at most grounds and nout happens.
