Mega-hurricane heading for Florida

Irma wasn't it? We were there in Orlando at the time. Was 3 days on almost total lockdown.
Irma was September 2017? That when you were there??
We were there about a week after it hit and was amazed at the amount of debris kicking about still. That pirate show place on I drive had lost its roof.

Yeah, 2017 will be right, 5 years ago when the eldest was just shy of 3 (so free to the parks).

They bussed in so many workers to fix the place up, the lobby of our hotel was full of them one night where they were all checking in. They really mobilised an impressive workforce to get through the damage, it was impressive.

They suffer them ever summer down there man
There are hurricanes that hit somewhere along the Atlantic and Gulf Coasts every summer, but that doesn't mean any particular area sees one every year.

Depending where you are, it's more like once every 5-10 years. Florida is larger than England, and the actual damaging parts of hurricanes aren't that big.

Family in Miami already reporting morons stockpiling toilet paper and bottled water.... Reported one fella with 6 multi-packs of bog roll in his cart...

Latest forecast still has it going further north than originally anticipated, with landfall predicted for the most sparsely populated part of the coast. Tampa Bay is still at risk, though. Pinar del Rio, Cuba's main cigar-making centre, is currently bang in the firing line.
