Mega-hurricane heading for Florida

Family in the area has been devastated. One lives in a mobile home that is not there anymore, the other has lost their roof and a lot of their belongings as well as the obvious structural damage to the walls. Hearing so many of the people affected in that area seem to have not bothered with insurance.... Losing everything and no way to replace it...
No insurance 😲

No insurance 😲
Yeah I was shocked as well, especially as a tornado destroyed 30% of the park in just January... my wife's aunt though reporting it was $1,800 a year to insure her 'trailer' which she just couldn't afford.
Agh, guess in that area some insurance companies don't want to know.
For some of these areas FEMA is the only place to get insurance but that is crazy expensive. An example in NJ I had clients in a severe flood zone where none of the insurance companies wanted to touch them. FEMA insurance came in a $6,300 a year... Fortunately I was able to put them on to a flood specialist and they ended up with an $1,900 policy..
So post storm I have a load of branches to clear up and car to dry out (sat on keys and opened the boot of the car without realizing)... Now the storm has passed its a really nice sunny day here again in coastal Virginia Beach. If it wasn't for the fact I have pneumonia at the moment I'd be looking to go play golf. Crazy how quickly the weather bounces back after these things.
