Very surprised to see the bloke in charge of a team 12th in League 1 who has never managed above league 1 having more than double the votes of anyone else.

Managing the pressures around MK Dons is a wholly different proposition to managing SAFC.
Cannot understand the clamour for this no mark like
Kevin Phillips for me, bring in a man who actually cares about the club instead of these mercenaries
Be wanting Bally in as assistant as well will you?

Tragic patter

Give him a chance, he's a club legend and he's doing a good job at South Shields
We’re in the championship now man. He literally messed up the northern premier or whatever the hell league that is last year.

A bloke who scored goals for us years ago then fucked us off is most certainly not the answer

100% nothing to do with his achievements at MK Dons, play style or coaching experience (this isn't an endorsement of Manning so keep your hair on).

The thread made lot of good points plus a well produced YouTube video outlined his achievements, playing style and coaching experience.

I like him

He's worth a shot in my opinion. His heart will be in the job and he wants what's best for the club unlike Neil and other managers we've had. Look at when we got Roy Keane, inexperienced manager yet turned out great for us

Aye let's just bin off any sign of improvement, any sign of playing good football and get Dyche in who'll sign some 6'6 foot plodder up front who can't run and fire long balls at him for 90 minutes. Great stuff. The absolute dream.

This idea that Sean Dyche is the holy grail because he got a team promoted about a decade ago and kept them up is nonsense. Be such a bad appointment.

Agreed bring someone new in like Kevin Phillips

It would be a Bruce/O’Neill/Moyes appointment. Allardyce if we were very lucky.

What the hell? We had amazing teams both years!
Really? In Reid’s first promotion season he took a side that had only just stayed up and won the league with very few additions, we were not great at all, just very good at what we did (which was not conceding goals). In Keane’s promotion season he took over an absolute basket case of a club, and it took some time to get any momentum going (I think we were still 11th at the start of January). We went on an amazing run to the end of the season, but we did it by never giving in and scoring a lot of late goals. Both teams were a long way from being amazing. If those teams were amazing then the 1998-99 team must have stratospherically unbelievable!

Most of the big names would not consider a head coach role, at best they would be like AN and take it until a better (manager) position comes along.

Young and unknown is our only option unless we abandon the DOF model.

he's now out of work. He would be a terrible fit for our current squad and ambitions.
My pref. would be for Dyche, but as stated he'd be a bad fit for our current direction with youth. His being out of work would be favourable to those holding the budget [no compen] but his salary demands would certainly price him out of it

He didn’t mess it up. As I recall narrowly missed out on the playoffs.
