Please vote based on the choices below, provided alphabetically, for the next Sunderland permanent manager. There is a none of the above option, but please only select that if you genuinely think there is a better option realistically available. Poll will run for seven days or until there is concrete new - your vote can be changed over time if you wish.

Surprised to see there’s no clear winner at this stage. I guess because nobody saw this coming nobody gave it any prior though. I still struggle to believe this has happened. Like when I first read it on here I thought there’s no chance, but then as I read on it became apparent that he was actually leaving us. I hope the snake relegates them.

Very surprised to see the bloke in charge of a team 12th in League 1 who has never managed above league 1 having more than double the votes of anyone else.

Managing the pressures around MK Dons is a wholly different proposition to managing SAFC.
Why can some people not got into their heads that we are recruiting a head coach not a manager? Its a very different role to being a manager

You shouldn't be. I can't remember a new manager poll ever showing any kind of consensus.

MK Dons played some superb football last season and were unlucky against Wycombe.

They’ve also lost their best player in Scott Twine.

Some one will hit lucky on him.

Normally there are one or two front runners though, but on this one the leader had 16% of the vote when I wrote that.
(Although that’s now extended to 28% which is a bit more conclusive)

It’s really not. Both jobs are head coach roles at football clubs. Both jobs are outside the premier league so the average journalist and Joe on the streets couldn’t give a shit. Both jobs mean winning keeps you in a job and losing means you get sacked. Both jobs require somebody capable of working with young players and developing talent rather than older more experienced players. Both jobs need a clear connection between coach and supporters to keep them tenable. The only difference is the number of people that follow Sunderland at matches. Some coaches will enjoy the challenge of those extra people and some coaches will shy from it. But the ultimate pressure is no different - win and stay in a job, lose and get sacked.
