Keith Downey (I know) doesn't seem convinced he's gone mind. Reckons AN likes it here and can be convinced to stay.
 
I had a look on the Stoke forum. Many of them think Neil is playing them for a new contract but like us, nobody really knows, it's just guess work.
 
Not sure if already mentioned - but he did something similar at Preston.

West Brom were 'interested' which he used as leverage to land a 3-year contract with Preston to stay.
You're assuming we (or they) are willing to give him an improved deal. Can't help feeling if that was the case it would have been sorted over the summer. Hope I'm wrong.
 
As others have said already, this 12-month rolling contract was always going to massively weaken the clubs hand in any negotiation that was ever going to take place with him about his future.
Which is why I’m hoping his strong hand now, gets him the deal he wants, if that’s what he wants.
I think it could be as much to do with signings and being backed with those as it is about his own terms. Just my opinion mind
