2nd test Old Trafford

Must be difficult to have performed well this summer to be dropped whilst watching more senior players have less success and retain their places just ‘because’.
Its the right call for me. Robinson is class and SA is chock full of lefties which Robinson is excellent against and Potts a bit rubbish against.
I'm just resigned to the fact that he will play forever and finish with a test batting average of 8 after 184 tests.

The Crawley selection is ridiculous and sends a terrible message to openers round the country scoring runs in abundance. Jennings got more in one innings than Crawley has all season.
And then what happens when we select an opener who has already proven himself a failure against quick bowling when he unsurprising fails again against quick bowling with the same technique problems he has always had. Jennings is a shout for the sub continent but nowhere else. Not a defence of Crawely btw.

Jennings was only only an example, there are plenty of other openers who are more confident and more likely to make a contribution than Crawley. Even the sky commentators said he should be taken out of the firing line for his own benefit.

Potts has been a revelation this summer, embarrassing he’s been dropped
Think it’s a difficult one personally. Potts can count himself very very unlucky imo.

However in last couple of tests has looked less of a threat and we 1 0 down in 3 match series.

And a Robinson on form very very good bowler.

Fair enough. I would drop him as well. The replacement is the harder part though. All those that have been tried have question marks over them and there is no untried player that is really obvious. I think Burns is the best we have but someone else would say Jennings or Sibley. I think all are a better bet than Crawley.

Agreed, the last few seasons have provided a great opportunity for any talented opener to grab a spot but nobody has, as yet, took the opportu ity and nailed the spot.
