2nd test Old Trafford

Fair enough. I would drop him as well. The replacement is the harder part though. All those that have been tried have question marks over them and there is no untried player that is really obvious. I think Burns is the best we have but someone else would say Jennings or Sibley. I think all are a better bet than Crawley.

I agree, but on a ‘horses for courses’ you might take Jennings to a Sri Lanka or Bangladesh.

Don’t think there is a chance that Jennings comes back. No matter where we maybe playing

continuing with Crawley though , does not make any cricketing sense whatsoever

im not convinced by pope either, as he to me, is someone who has all the shots, then he will miss time a drive to mid off, or leaves a straight one and bowled

Would be amazed if Crawley is still in the side for the winter if fails these last two tests.

There is loyalty which in general I agree with and then just plain silly.

Crawley isn't meriting his place but it would be grossly unfair on a replacement whoever it is wouldn't have played red ball for about 5 weeks.
True, but that includes all the team in the first test. I still can’t believe that happened, at the peak of summer, to allow for overseas stars to come to the U.K. and take millions away

I will never accept the 100 for that alone

do this next summer before the ashes, we will be blown away.

Burns. He's the best we have, but people don't fancy him because he doesn't have a classical technique, which is all that matters to the suits of English cricket.

Yep I agree. Nothing wrong with that. Slow flat pitches or those that take spin hes the best opener we have. Anywhere in the sub continent really hes an option even taking into account India and Pakistan have good quicks.

I agree. He's not fantastic by any means but hes as good as there is.

Burns is a funny one because I watched him hit a century just over a year ago against a very good New Zealand attack and at that point he looked like a very competent opener. Then in the space of half a dozen Tests he’s seemingly been consigned to history.

They want a shot maker to play this brand of cricket, I’d guess it will be Duckett who eventually comes in. But they will probs pick him to open in conditions he struggled in last time for England

I think Jennings would still be that man playing on flat pitches in the sub continent if that's his remit.

Aye he’d be in my team 100%, he should have toured Sri Lanka and India last year.
Foakes another to keep an eye on, wouldn’t be surprised if he’s dropped if he struggled again

I know. I never got the fuss. The best keeper and a technically good batsmen that will have the odd conventional good knock but hes not for me outside of the sub continent.

He has 32 test caps and a fairly moderate test average. I don’t think the suits have excluded him on the back of not having a classical technique.

Had many a debate with The Rat about that one.

And still think out of all opening batting options in England none better than Burns imo
