Fair enough. I would drop him as well. The replacement is the harder part though. All those that have been tried have question marks over them and there is no untried player that is really obvious. I think Burns is the best we have but someone else would say Jennings or Sibley. I think all are a better bet than Crawley.
It’s a difficult one though, as don’t remember many test sides picking and dropping openers in that way.I agree, but on a ‘horses for courses’ you might take Jennings to a Sri Lanka or Bangladesh.
True, but that includes all the team in the first test. I still can’t believe that happened, at the peak of summer, to allow for overseas stars to come to the U.K. and take millions awayCrawley isn't meriting his place but it would be grossly unfair on a replacement whoever it is wouldn't have played red ball for about 5 weeks.
Burns. He's the best we have, but people don't fancy him because he doesn't have a classical technique, which is all that matters to the suits of English cricket.Fair enough. Yep I agree. Nothing wrong with that. Slow flat pitches or those that take spin hes the best opener we have. Anywhere in the sub continent really hes an option even taking into account India and Pakistan have good quicks.I agree, but on a ‘horses for courses’ you might take Jennings to a Sri Lanka or Bangladesh.
I agree. He's not fantastic by any means but hes as good as there is.Burns. He's the best we have, but people don't fancy him because he doesn't have a classical technique, which is all that matters to the suits of English cricket
They want a shot maker to play this brand of cricket, I’d guess it will be Duckett who eventually comes in. But they will probs pick him to open in conditions he struggled in last time for EnglandYep I agree. Nothing wrong with that. Slow flat pitches or those that take spin hes the best opener we have. I think Jennings would still be that man playing on flat pitches in the sub continent if that's his remit. They want a shot maker to play this brand of cricket, I’d guess it will be Duckett who eventually comes in. Aye he’d be in my team 100%, he should have toured Sri Lanka and India last year.I think Jennings would still be that man playing on flat pitches in the sub continent if that's his remit.
I know. I never got the fuss. The best keeper and a technically good batsmen that will have the odd conventional good knock but hes not for me outside of the sub continent.Aye he’d be in my team 100%, he should have toured Sri Lanka and India last year.
Foakes another to keep an eye on, wouldn’t be surprised if he’s dropped if he struggled again

He averages over 30 with an Ashes 100. Moderate but you are only as good as your direct competition and hes better than them IMO.He has 32 test caps and a fairly moderate test average. I don’t think the suits have excluded him on the back of not having a classical technique.
Had many a debate with The Rat about that one.Burns. He's the best we have, but people don't fancy him because he doesn't have a classical technique, which is all that matters to the suits of English cricket.
Exactly. The arguments against would stack up if we had options, but he's comfortably the best we haveHe averages over 30 with an Ashes 100. Moderate but you are only as good as your direct competition and hes better than them IMO.
