I can’t believe people, even people within boxing, were congratulating him on retirement.

He only vacated one of his belts ffs. No doubt he’ll be all over Instagram and Twitter calling Usyk a bum and a little pumped up cruiserweight for the next 6 months before retiring again.

He was meant to fight Fury, - who even did a video thanking drug baron Daniel Kinahan for arranging the fight - then remembered he'd signed a rematch clause with Wilder and that it had been a massive waste of everyone's time.

It’s easy for people to say that but it’s not as simple as that when you’re in with an elite fighter.

People used to say the key to beating Mayweather was ‘just roughing him up’ and it never worked because barely anyone could get near him to do it.

I understand that, I just thought it may have been more apparent in his tactics.

You're right though. Even when watching on Tele in ringside, there's stuff you can't see from the fighter's perspective. AJ had a really good 9th (I think). Ripped the body well and had Usyk visibly uncomfortable, but Usyk came out like the white rabbit he called himself and won the round with great combos and movement. At that point AJ had started to gas. Real elite, all time great tactics by Usyk there. Perfect perception of where he was in the fight and how important that 10th round was going to be.

He’s incredible to watch like, I’d love to see him up close.

I remember Bellew saying that fighting him was as mentally draining as it was physically because his feet are unbelievable.

Wilder basically confirmed he turned down a lucrative offer to fight Joshua and the Fury fight was all signed until Wilder activated the rematch clause.

Whether Joshua would beat them or not is irrelevant but the facts are he/his team have tried to make those fights.
 
Surely Joshua is finished now, and he's financially well off anyway, to never have to fight again.
Putting him in against Wilder or Fury, is just sheer madness, as he'd be totally dismantled in very short time, and could suffer life changing injuries.
He should walk away now, and maybe look to put his skills to good use as a coach, or maybe do some media work, instead.
The only person who'd benefit from another Joshua fight, is Hearn.

People always say things along the lines of “aw he’s got plenty of money he will be alright” but I don’t believe it’s how elite people (of any profession) think, winning is everything. Joshua could have retired years ago if he just wanted an easy life, that’s what makes the difference between them and 99.9999% of people.
