Unfortunately I did and I have. The only one that gave me true confidence and a sense we are back among the big boys and belong in this league and playing like we are in the Championship is the Bristol City game.

See, this is what i can’t get my head around. If we take QPR, bossed the game mostly and we were unlucky to only draw. Last night, we were comfortable at worst, sometimes on top. This was against two ‘proper’ championship clubs. The other games, similar really.

With the league 1 rot feared to have kicked in, it’s a joy to see us playing football (being allowed to play as the other team also want a game!) and looking very comfortable. Players from last season stepping up, new lads looking good.

There’s a good team here. More additions needed, but a good team who will be there or there about come the end of the season.

Negativity when it’s deserved, but it’s definitely not deserved atm.

You can change anything in life mate, but you have to want to do it, try pivoting when you feel negative, think of something that’s been a good memory in life and really focus on it, it helps trust me, I was diagnosed with PTSD after 26 years in the Army, I have been at the very bottom, there is always help to climb up, you just need to want to do it. Always here for a fellow lads fan if you need any advice 👊
Great post 😍

After losing 2-1 how are you able to say that? Fans seem more assured after losing than after a win these days. Defeats have replaced wins as the primary source of happiness and positivity it seems.

People would think we had won 2-1 if you read that and didn’t see the score.
You're git close to going on ignore, you. Normally your posts are mildly eccentric but recently they've been toxic fuckwittery.

Tough to take but:
Felt like a proper game against a proper team and we didn’t do too badly.
Some great performances from Patto and Goocho.
Best of all Neil preferred tactics seem to be attacking in a nice stylish way. Hopefully this will soon pay off.
Only downside is there’s no easy fixtures ahead. Maybe there aren’t any in this league?

I see. I’m so sorry I said all the vile things I said on the matchday thread. I take them all back. I see performances are valued above wins and points in Sunderland AFC. The result doesn’t matter to Sunderland supporters as much as the performances. Keep on playing like that and get the same result and everyone is happy. One bad performance and a win isn’t as good as a hundred good performances and no wins. Sunderland fans have always seen performances as more important than wins.

One off results don't mean a thing...any team can undeservingly win matches or be unlucky and lose a game.

In the early days it's best to judge performances and they are an indicator of future results.

Don’t jump in on shields black cat

there are reasons for the posting, let the lad have his say but don’t abuse him
I’ve called him out for being a WUM for his many inane postings on various holiday and coronavirus threads, although I never abuse him.

He’s currently posting ridiculous ramblings on the Blade in Peace thread. I think he needs a break, perhaps you can help him in some way

Last night I feared a battering when we went 2-0 down and with only 10 men, it could easily have become a Johnson-esque shambolic defeat to wreck the rest of the season but the players stuck at it against (apparently) one of the better sides in the division which gives hope. The AN instilled mentality of the players is key that we can hold our own in the Champ.

Thats the Championship, virtually no easy fixtures, even the teams near the bottom can be half decent.
The teams at the bottom of the Championship are at a similar level to league 1 play-off teams.

However what makes it a great league is that the teams at the top of the league aren't massively better than teams near the bottom.
So you often see weird unpredictable results where everyone seems capable of beating everyone.

It's a cliche that the Championship is called the toughest league but there is rarely any outstanding teams.
Last season I thought we were average and Huddersfield and Luton were poor but these teams finished in the play-offs.

So you don't need a good team to finish in the play-offs, all you need is consistency and to find a knack of scraping results even when you have an off day.

Regards Sheff United we still have a long injury list with some good players due to return.
However we still look better than last season when we finished in the play-offs, so the signs are good for us.

Exacxtly. I am like our new and reletively inexperienced squad's time at this level. It will take time for things to come to fruition. Hopefully this is Day 1 of what will hopefully turn out to be a growth in positivity and optimism for me. It's early days and I am learning as I go but my initial thoughts are we can forget about getting results. Forget getting points on the board. That ship sailed before the Coventry game. I actually said that even last night. Performances are more important than wins. We have just come up from spending 3-4 years in League One. The teams minds are full of what it takes to beat League One teams. We have a League One mindset when approaching games. Only we aren't in League One anymore. It will take time to get used to the tempo and power of this league. So for now it is best to focus on just the performances and not what the end result will be. If you forget about the results and focus on the performances both individually and collectively we have shocked this league by how well we have competed. It has been very very good. Long may it continue.

I think we have been superb and competed very well in the 4 league games. If we bring in the 4/5 signings Alex Neil wants then I feel we could even challenge the play off places. I genuinely believe that.

There's no one left to reply man. Everyone who responded to his ludicrous posts last night were put on ignore.
I understand this but it’s not as straightforward as it seems.
You keep repeating the same thing. Either elaborate of stop foing round snd round please
I was told in confidence. It’s not my place to say. If the poster says fair enough .

It’s not my place. I was told in strictest confidence. If others were told then it would be better understood

i can’t say more as I don’t want a lifetime ban
Heard all this before however the same poster switches to being perfectly rational, and making perfectly valid points when not discussing SAFC.

He also states how shit we are when most are praising us. Then if the wind changes, and the board starts to get on the players back, he all of a sudden says we are brilliant. Just review a few of the match threads from this season it’s there in black and white.

That doesn’t point to someone with the problems you allude to, it points to a massive attention seeking wum.
As I said, there are reasons.

Honestly. I’ve had my eyes opened tonight but it’s not in my gift to go further than that

if it was known, I assure you , it would be understood why the poster does what he does
Because he’s a mag. We all know mate
Take Simms out of that team last night and it was all the players that were under Lee Johnson in League One and would of capitulated at 2-0, not this team, AN has got them in a totally different mindset, if you were at the game last night you would of seen the passion from us getting behind the team and felt the equaliser coming, unfortunately it didn’t but what we saw was a team down to 10 men going down fighting and that is all I ask, it was a tall order going there and getting anything but for the first time in a long while, we have a togetherness and an amazing never say die attitude thanks to AN.

Am I happy with a loss NO, am I happy with the display they showed at 2-0 down YES 100% we are building a team and a togetherness and it needs patience, we are going to have blips, they have a much superior team to us but did we roll over NO.

I think you need to take a chill pill and jump on the Bob Marley train and remember everything is gonna be alright ;)
Brilliant post!
