Am I though? First QPR and now S**ff**ld U**ted. Let me put it this way. I feel it’s David v Goliath every time. We cannot keep on playing a team of “prospects” like Alese and Diamond and “inexperienced” Championship players like O’Nien and Pritchard. Because whilst I acknowledge both types within the squad do seem to perform to a degree it’s obviously still not enough to secure wins consistently at this level - we have only won once this season.

I’m simply desperate for us to get a nice little string of wins together. Just one or two. You can all call me all the names under the sun again if you all think it makes you big. Let me tell you this for free!! Nothing in the world you can say can hurt me more than seeing us go another week without a win. I would love nothing more than to see us win a game. in fact I want a win more than survival right now. If you gave me a choice I’d take ONE win over survival every time. And it’s killing me to see us still not good enough to win. I’m starting to feel I don’t know when the next one will be. But if and when it comes you will have nothing to hurt me with. Because I will be so overwhelmed with joy. Then where will you be? What will you do with your lives? Just you wait.
Just to be clear if you can point to where I called you all the names under the sun I’ll apologise. I won’t need to though because I didn’t call you anything.

You are Entitled to your opinion mate and yes obviously wins are important but I can also see the positives in defeat. I still stand by my view that you are overly harsh on them re last night you don’t believe you were overly harsh, no problem that’s fine

As I said on another thread you think I like seeing things from my perspective? But I cannot see things from any other angle because I have not been taught to see it any other way. I don't know how you managed it. You must have been born in a very different way to me then. Was it a traumatic experience being sent to Earth right before you saw you parents die horribly when your home planet exploded? You think I would not be happier if I was more positive and upbeat? Then you would see some utter nonsense. I would be so carried away by us winning 1-0 you couldn't hurl enough vile abuse my way like I heard last night and into today to stop me. You would see a whole different kind but one you have nothing as a reply for.

The same Pritchard that's created more opportunities so far than anyone in the division?

Reported for using the explosion of my home planet and parental death to try and justify yourself.

I do believe I am starting to warm to you. I think you and I are going to be good mates. 😊

I don't see me ever putting you on Ignore in a million years. I like you too much to do that.

Bloody hell mate you typed that presumably sober in the morning 🤷‍♂️

You need help or at least take a break from here.

Ramblings of an idiot 🥴

Na worries pal I'm not here for agrro and all that crap as I said I've been reading your board from afar for a few seasons and it seems like a nice place to be sometimes 😉

Cheers pal you guys too ill probably go abit quiet after tonight but I'll still contribute every na and then ⚔
If you’ve been reading it from afar a few times this season you will know there are plenty bell ends on here, so the only way to survive (especially when following another team) is just to ignore the imbeciles and don’t rise to the bait!!
Last night was pleasing - I thought we would lose prior to the game (and we could have had 3 reds !) but losing 2-1 with 10 men for 60 minutes showed that we have a lot of heart , and we played some good stuff (as did you)
The main thing it showed is that if we consistently perform with that level of desire and confidence then we don’t have to fear anyone in this league

What else do we have to battle teams? We certainly cannot rely on players of League One level who are punching well above their weight. We were outclassed in every department by a far superior side who looks 4th in the Premiership never mind 4th in the Championship.

If I may offer some thoughts on this from a United perspective (although your own fans have pretty much said it’s bollocks already)…

We spent 6 years in League One so we know it how it feels. When we went up with Wilder we were full of League One and lower league talent (with the exception of Sharp). We barely changed the squad when we went up into the Championship - added some strength to our spine but lack of funds meant we spent hardly anything which is why Wilder was lauded here. We ended up getting promoted to the Prem after two seasons in the Championship playing with largely the same players who sat us at the bottom of League 1. All punching above their weight.

Sunderland last night reminded me of us in our first season. I saw loads of fight and spirit if a little lacking on quality at times. But, this is what the championship is all about. Your momentum is real, your players fighting for that badge is real and your hunger to prove wrong is real. Just hope it’s real enough to get top 6 which I think is a real possibility for you.

Well played last night, I was impressed at 11v11 and even more so at 11v10. I like your manager.

I should also add, these “punching a over their weight” players had us sitting 8th in the Prem before covid and lockdowns kicked in.

@NorthYorksBlade I thought we'd get beat comfortably last night. After half an hour though I was so encouraged, you'd offered nothing and seemed a bit flustered with the intensity of our press. The ball was sticking nicely with Simms and Stewart and we were able to play from there. We'd had a couple of half chances up to that point.

Of course the red card changes it and from there you took the lead, a decent header but disappointed with our marking - too easy that. The second goal was the first bit of quality you'd mustered in the game, albeit with a man advantage. Its a nice overlap and the dummy means its a completely unchallenged cut back.

From there we rallied though, scored a good goal and again you looked a bit wobbly, certainly in the 10-12 mins or so after until you brought subs on and it helped you settle a bit. Late on we're absolutely fucked and you get chances, Patto makes a few good stops. Still that niggling feeling amongst your fans that we could pinch one though, the nervous mumbles when the 7 mins of added time went up said it all.

TL;DR - I expected more from SU 11v11, that changed the game and you made the man advantage count. Proud of our lads, we showed we're no pushover. I really don't think you win that game if it remained 11v11 though.

Some points from last night's match.

1: Last season 90% of clubs came to Bramall Lane defending in numbers trying to frustrate us.
So what a refreshing chance it was to see an away team show no respect and take the game to us.
Sunderand's tactics ensured it was an open entertaining match. You were the better team for the first 20 minutes

2: I've read Sunderland fans saying how the Championship is a tough league but others have said the standard is poor and there's nothing to fear.
BOTH comments are kind of correct. There are a lot of decent/ good teams in the Championship but no really good teams.
Most of the teams are at a similar level. I think the standard near the top is quite poor (well below PL level)
Whereas the standard near the bottom of the league is very good ( much higher than leaguer 1 standard).

So if Sheff United or Sunderland play well then virtually every game is winnable.
However if you lose focus and think a match is going to be easy then you tend to lose.
Success in the Championship is all about consistency.

Based on what I saw I think Sunderland will finish top half, probably 8th or 9th.
You reminded me of us during our first season back, playing with no fear.
This season is all about you players and fans adjusting to the league but I reckon next season you'll be promotion contenders.

Good luck for the rest of the season.

I think Heckingbottom made a similar point to your point 1 in his post match interview.

I watched the game with my son and another MLF. I think we all took a lot of positives from the game despite the defeat. I think the league is much more even than league 1. There are none of the games I look at and think this should be an easy win, I'm now beginning to think, especially given Blackburn's defeat last night, there isn't a team who will run away with the league.

A few additio0ns and I am confident we will at least be comfortable this season. I was particularly pleased that the lads who came on, particularly Matete, looked as though they could play at this level. I was concerned after some of his pre-season games and the cup game last week,

Anyway on to Stoke. Haway the lads
