NUFC/Sportswashing - Summer 2022

What's the league the club plays in got to do with anything? Sportswashing is sportswashing.

Exile is so caught up in having a pop at Newcastle (the real reason for his obsession, sportswashing is just something he's latched onto otherwise he'd have been on this campaign long before the takeover) that he's happy to claim that PSG aren't sportswashing themselves
Maybe he can’t speak french, pointless going onto their forums really. Poor example that, you really do need to try harder

They are at it. There are a whole host of clubs at it

However

How many of those clubs supporters wore tea towels round their heads?

How many of those clubs wore the state who owns them home colours as a replica kit?

How many of those clubs travelled for a meaningless friendly in Russia Qatar or Saudi Arabia?

Is the penny dropping yet?

Sorry.

What am I supposed to be defending there? I'm only pointing out PSG's sportswashing, which had been brushed under the carpet by someone who claims to be fighting sportswashing.

Certainly not defending the claim that Newcastle are being used in the same way
So you admit now that you're happy to engage in sportswashing and cheer for bin Salman's propaganda machine?

No. I'll cheer for Newcastle while decrying the way we're being used and pointing out the reasons for it, the deplorable human rights record of Saudi Arabia
You do realize it's not me that said that? Don't you?
You should read the article you've linked rather than frantically grabbing at the first Google search item thrown up. Laughable, try again. Amnesty International love a bit of ill thought out accusation in order to maintain their long lost 'relevance'. As I say, something meaningful, something relevant and something with substance, not a f***ing sponsorship deal from 8 years ago with no direct link to Sheikh Mansour.

@ilovehorswill

You liked that post. Didn't you bother reading it?

But you don't do that do you? You've already admitted that you go to the match and cheer bin Salman's boys whilst saying nothing about his atrocities. If I remember rightly, you were afraid to protest against the owners in case I asked you to do something further.

No, I don't protest at games. I never have. I do discuss things with fellow fans and get my point across. Thankfully there are very few people to argue with in real life, most people are of a similar mind.

And no, I'm not afraid to protest, I just don't think it'd do any good. I can't see culture changing in the middle east just because I daubed on a bedsheet

I'm not suggesting that he tweets in french, just that he doesn't hold up PSG signing a player as an example of "putting two fingers up to sportswashing"
Like I say, you seem to be finding him irksome. I am finding it hard to comprehend why you are getting so wound up about it? It’s as if you are trying to discredit him

Whilat I think you sometimes argue for the sake of arguing I do respect this viewpoint mate.
I would likely be the same though I certainly wouldn't have taken to social media to defend the state as many have done. I would defend my club and that would be it.

There was a bloke the other week who put some anti SAFC comment on an "away days" page on Facebook. Clicked on his profile and his profile pictuers have been, Wycombe's badge (fair enough but a bit odd), the Saudi flag and, on the anniversary of 9/11, I presume, a picture of the twin towers. Absolutely barmy.

^The walking embodiment of moral cowardice.

Your words are meaningless if you don't back them up when faced with the evil you claim to abhor.
