NUFC/Sportswashing - Summer 2022

Of course it does, they have all but zero relevance to the game in this country. Its like using an NFL team. Do you not think NUFC are worth a million PSGs? I do.

Our game, is far from perfect as it is and even with loads of dodgy foreign ownership was still "ours".
Your traditional club are owned by blokes who funded the biggest terrorist attack in history man. That to me, regardless of who I support is a shame, if nothing else and I'd say the same if it was Swansea or Stockport, though obviously not anywhere near as often as your club is 10 miles from mine.

I obvioualy don't want you to become hugely successful for obvious reasons but (hand on heart) would be far more jealous if you were still owned by John Hall and it happened than these monsters.

That's fair, but it's a global game. They're relevant to the discussion in my book

What because he said he wouldnt tweet about Saudi when they get out of football? Maybe he wants to protect our beautiful game? He does mention City and Chelsea too btw
Because he said Ekitike signing for PSG over us is "putting two fingers up to sportswashing", like they're not at it

Exile has been hoisted by his own petard, not that some of you can see it even when it's clearly pointed out to you. Or maybe you just don't want to see it. Either way
I disagree with the conclusion that it's two fingers up to sportswashing but that doesn't excuse the fact that you cheer on the team of a mass murderer. Or that you're on here every day trying to defend the indefensible.

They are at it. There are a whole host of clubs at it

However

How many of those clubs supporters wore tea towels round their heads?

How many of those clubs wore the state who owns them home colours as a replica kit?

How many of those clubs travelled for a meaningless friendly in Russia Qatar or Saudi Arabia?

Is the penny dropping yet?

What am I supposed to be defending there? I'm only pointing out PSG's sportswashing, which had been brushed under the carpet by someone who claims to be fighting sportswashing.

Certainly not defending the claim that Newcastle are being used in the same way

Exile has already said he'd stop posting about anything Saudi Arabia have done the second they sell Newcastle United.

Motives seem pretty clear to me. Completely driven by jealousy with no real concern about anything Saudi Arabia have done in the past or will do in the future.
What would they have to do in the future for you to say we don’t want you as owners ?
I assume butchering another journalist, executing more children or another 9/11 attack isn’t enough ? What is ?

What penny?

A few Man City fans definitely went a bit tea towel

If you two want to argue that City and PSG aren't sportswashing vehicles then go right ahead. I think they are and as such are pertinent to the topic of this thread and this conversation, especially when Exile is using one as an example of sticking two fingers up to sportswashing.

For what it's worth I don't like the term whataboutism. Just seems to defend blatant hipocrisy these days, and people here are using it to defend PSGs sportswashing in the sportswashing thread. Weird behavior
I haven't defended PSG, nor will I. However, I see that you've thrown the 'sportswashing' accusation at Man City. Care to enlighten me as to what Sheikh Mansour needs to 'sportswash'? Come on, you must have something that will stick. Or is your thinking merely that of a sportswashed goon desperate to deflect attention from your club owners? Time to put up I think kidda.

Unless you think Amnesty International are engaged in a bit of whataboutery
What wpuld they protest about?

Please tell me what would Man City and PSG fans protest about because I don't think you know do you

The human rights record of their ownership

You should read the article you've linked rather than frantically grabbing at the first Google search item thrown up. Laughable, try again. Amnesty International love a bit of ill thought out accusation in order to maintain their long lost 'relevance'. As I say, something meaningful, something relevant and something with substance, not a f***ing sponsorship deal from 8 years ago with no direct link to Sheikh Mansour.
