You must have cringed at the crashes today. Going to fast, not knowing the course? I just found them strange for top cyclists.
Mix…some clearly a bit over excited and some riders from smaller nations I was watching through dingers especially at that early turn ( about 30 seconds in)

Others we’re down to just pushing it at the top end of the field.

They’re horrible bikes to handle and not really designed for twisting and turning course….uncomfortable as fuck as well

Cheers. I enjoyed the race though. No idea of technique or the designed bikes.

Think they all had the opportunity to recce the course yesterday....Thomas was certainly out having a look.

Would he have known the barrier was in the middle of the road though?
I did wonder if they had a training run on the course. Couple of times I thought they went into a bend thinking it was wider
The barriers & cones wouldn't have been there until late last night at the earliest.

The bikes are incredibly stiff and tricky to handle, fine in straight lines but any wind( luckily still today) or technical courses and that’s where even top riders get caught out.

Road race should be canny on Sunday, though I’m away on hols and will miss it.

Fred Wright should be right up there again

True. Definitely confused some of the riders , from what I saw

Thought they were getting rid of the barriers with the base that point out in major races
