The Safety of Fans in the North Stand

Haven't Pompey done it more than once? I'm sure there's another team that i've forgotten.
From what I can recall there was an incident with Pompey but their fans identified the perpetrator and handed him to the Police.

You need to look at the calibre of posts on the coventry forum. They dont seem to have any issue with this beahviour... I paraphrase just a bottle and a flair and we are a weird bunch for thinking this behaviour is unnaceptable. We need to ban them.

He can organise with the boy owner to put mesh in such a position it would stop this thing happening. If he or the boy cared about their fans they’d do it sharpish. I wouldn’t hold my breath, the ticket shambles proves it once again

They don’t care.

The skeptic in me says that the £15k made for the additional Coventry fans today pays for a few extra hours for the club shop/ ticket office to be open. I have a horrible feeling that is the level which we are working to

Not sure if this works but it should show the glass on the floor. Those seats are used by a family
That’s an absolute disgrace that. I seen the flare come down and a few other bits and pieces but a glass bottle? Absolutely disgraceful.

It was a smashed up Heineken bottle, don't sell glass bottles on the ground so must've been brought in just to throw.
If that's the case wtf are the security staff doing not searching them on the way in?

Same with every game at the SOL & properly most grounds tbf.

Additionally I was lucky enough to go to both concerts in the summer & if I was a lunatic could've blown the SOL to kingdom come both times. You'd think security would be much tighter after Manchester!! We don't chuffing learn & leaving ourselves wide open again in this country for something else!!

I have no issue caging the Coventry animals in. I just think its unfair to tar all away support the same.

meh. lifes not fair

i go to the vast majority of safc away games. if we turned up at an away end and their was a net up, or a cage, due to the behaviour of previous fans, then you'd simply have to grin and bare it for 90 minutes. its not our ground, and its not our fault nor our concern. nor our place to be making demands to be hosted in any particular manner.

the only group of fans that safc should be worried about appeasing is us.

Let's face it the stewards are more likely to throw the folk complaining about being hit out.

Waste of time the ones up there "policing"

Aye fair enough mate.

I just think if it wasnt too difficult to put up or take down we should just use it for supporters who think this behaviour is acceptable ie coventry.

As a side...plenty of Police rhere today getting paid overtime. Surely some of them could have been around the coventry support given their disgusting reputation.

aye that would be ideal. a retractable net. when the likes of fulham and norwich come to town, take it down. when coventry turn up, hoist up net. fuck them

sometimes innocent people (regular coventry fans in this case) have to concede some sort of freedom due to the actions of a tiny minority.

That was what the club had planned. It cost £15k and Donald refused to pay for it

The stewards were clueless but the police were worse than shite. Whatever happened to proper policing up here? Do they even have a dog unit now?
Well I was looking from South and not much movement up there at all when it was thrown. Couple walked third way up set of steps and then back down. Police are a joke at the ground. I helped set display up Sheff wed game and they looked half asleep lounged over seats when getting briefing.

i'd probably wager that the SEC would be the least worst place for them, however, that means that the away turnstiles and away end access would be from the SEC corner turnstiles, directly infront of the Stokoe statue (that hundreds of people use as a meeting point every game, and usually has safc scarfs, memorobilia placed around it) and is also the busiest area outside the ground on a match day as every single person from south of the river and roker avenue way come past that corner on their way into the ground. moving the away fans to this corner would cause major hassle for the coppers outside the ground

and within in a couple of games you'd have safc fans going 'who's idea was it to move them here, theres hell on every game, move the away fans!'

Yeah that's what I mean. I think the idea was that certain clubs including our nearest up the road were giving us shite seats and we were giving them better ones at our ground. So we stuck them up there.

I'd argue that on the whole, it's been a success but incidents like this make it question why you'd put away fans above home fans.

Like I say, if it's just the same club then reduce their allocation or even ban them. If it means they do the return to us then so be it.
