it's a very contradictory article

-its not because i think we are going to win something

and in same article

-Newcastle United are a club who are going to win things.

How on earth can you enjoy everything about the club? FFS...everything.

I can't remember the last time I actively chose to watch a pre-season friendly, let alone most of them. Christ, it wasn't that long ago when I couldn't even be bothered to watch the first team playing in the league. In the space of a few months I've gone from largely not caring one jot whether they won, lost or drew to hugely enjoying *everything* about the club. It's not just the performances - it's the teamwork, the bonding, the social media output, the sense of community, the consistently professional decisions and actions and an overriding sense of enjoyment whether we win or lose because there is a club trying to win and be better. Finally, it's enjoyable watching the Toon again.

It is not an FFP issue as they are miles from being close to the ceiling. It is about cash flow. Profit margins under MA were tight and they have since added c25m to costs without a similar rise in revenue (shirt sleeve sponsor aside). The club, as a business, barely washes it's face and is going to need continued equity injections which means AS and JR stumping up their share each time. Then you have the expected delay and scrutiny from PIF as referred to in that iNews article. The mags (on twitter) think it is all down to MA getting poor shirt deals with Castore and sponsorship deals with Fun88 though not sure there are any foundations in that. They have spent more than their annual turnover on signings and that is not sustainable without Saudi's pumping further money in. Evidence so far suggests their is a limit on how much they will put in. Glorious days. But hey they didn't dance around with tea towels on their head because of the Saudi's it was because MA was gone and it was a warm autumnal evening and they needed to keep cool. Imagine giving the state of Saudi Arabia all of your history in the expectation of trophies and ending up needing an overdraft to pay the bills barely 9 months later. But it seems on here, amongst our resident mags, that alarm bells are not yet ringing?
They're releasing funds to spend in this transfer window. Nothing alarming or unusual about that. No panic on my end, plenty of grasping at straws on this board though
