Even the expert himself, Keiran, has messaged me to say "very odd".

Richest club in the world getting a pay loan! You simply couldn't make it up.

So they are borrowing against the first 1/3rd of this...

Actual league position: 11th
Equal share: £79m
Facility fees: £19.8m
Merit payment: £26.5m
Commercial revenue: £5.6m
Total: £130.9m

Not really going to get you Diaby or Paquetta is it? When 80% of it will go out in wages.

Hilarious seeing fans like @ToonPack saying it was exactly as expected. And fans defending the action on twitter.

We will love seeing this all unfold.
If Mike Ashley had done this, there’d be protests the lot. So why, isn’t there one now?

I think the expectation is top 8 which is fair enough.

Can I ask why you mention Dan Burn when he was one of the standout players of last season ? Is it because he's not deemed to be a glamourous player ?
It’s because in my view he’s bang average and is no different to anyone Ashley signing

Fancy a private bet on whether you make top 8?
I will have a ton with you that you don’t?

Diaby or Paqueta will want a salary of £400K per week?

Best example I can think off is going from bottom 3 to the second best inform team in the league. Achieved by signing better players than the ones we had with a better manager than the previous one.
Aye - we did that under Poyet in his first season.

The Mags, despite being bottom were never more than 6 points from 17th place. We were 7 points when Poyet took over. We were then 6 points from 17th with 6 games to go and still had Man City, Chelsea and Man Utd to play away.

Man City did this last year by the look of it.

Frothing at the mouth that we are picking up on the pay day loan? At least post a screen shot so we can see the charge showing they have borrowed against TV rights. Even if true - how much have City owners injected to date?

Don't be a clown.

2021 a/c's show 76.1 of wages to turnover ratio.

So a fair chunk of that loan will go on wages, albeit they have season ticket money also.

2021 turnover was 140m and they likely added 25m to the wage bill since then so wages to turnover likely a higher ratio now which leaves very little left to sign either of those two players.

Dress it up however you want - this is not what you all expected.

Burn has done a really good job since coming in. You only need to read the press or watch the games to see that.
I think 8 is a real possibility but unfortunateley im not in a financial position to put £100 on the table. Glady put a tenner on it for a bit of fun.

He was like Tern.

No it’s not man!!!! 😅

Chris Wood, Dan Burn, Nick Pope etc

I’ve absolutely loads of mates who are mags and they were ALL expecting different level players to the ones you are getting. Their expectations were to finish 6th or 7th this season and be closing the gap with the big 6
Then your mates are misguided and a bit daft, possibly why they are your mates tbh

We are currently stuck with legacy sponsorship deals, below market value for even the lower Prem League club that we are/were. Because of that we are relatively "cash poor", this brings in cash in advance and if all goes to plan and we improve/progress the future deals we make should be significantly higher.

We could have bought out the current sponsorship deals but I'm guessing that would have cost way more than any interest we'll pay on this loan (however much it is) even if we did a "new" deal would be based on what we currently are - a lower level Prem side, so we'd be locked into a new deal that if we do progress will be lower value than if we waited. Leaving it all alone to run out means if we have a good season new deals will be much higher.

Given the wealth of our owners it's not exactly a risk.

BTW I said the ownership MO was exactly how I hoped/expected, as in controlled and steady - which due to FFP is all you can do. This is simply further evidence of that. I hope we finish top 10 this season, that's the extent of my "expectation" and given the performances this year (last season) that is not unrealistic.

It's only the pissypants "I want it now" cretins who will be upset.

Fair dos, although an overdraft is still a form of financing to aid cashflow in the same way a loan is.
Football clubs have cyclical cash flows so an overdraft facility is essential. It is not the same as a pay day loan where you borrow against future income. Just admit you were wrong.
