It just accelerates cash flow by giving them all of the PL money upfront, rather than in instalments. It won't affect the end of season FFP numbers, as the income total will be the same; it's just the timing of the receipts that changes. In theory, it gives them more ability to pay transfer fees up front.
Haven't they got the cash flow already. I'm not very clued up on this mate.

How does that work then with FFP? Do all clubs do this?
From what Kieran Maguire is saying on his twitter page it's to increase cash flow and there's lots of clubs borrowing.
Iirc the premier league pays in 3 instalments per season. At the start, in the middle then at the end with the prize money as well. Could just be like nufc(and whoever else is borrowing) getting all that money in advance

Sorry didn't see this

couldnt they just get a loan from their owners?

If they did it would count against FFP. Borrowing up front doesn't (I think).
fair enough. i just didnt see the difference between getting the money from hsbc against the PL money, and getting it off the owners instead. they could charge no interest. ashley loaned them a fortune. they were all expecting PIF to plough hundreds of millions in.

It wouldn’t count as the same way on the financials though, as borrowing from PIF is like if one of us moved money from our savings account to our current account I suppose

Depends what you want to class as 'massive'

Its certainly been substantial and productive since the change in ownership.
This summer has been nothing, and I mean nothing, like you all imagined

It’s gone from Ronaldo cleaning boots to signing a centre half most of you had never heard of before you were linked with him
