I think it's a good deal for Forest. They know what they are getting in comparison to some unknown playing in France or Austria.
In comparison mags signed Thauvin in 2015 for 18.35m EUR....5 year deal so potentially cost at say 40k p/w = 10m. Played 13 games....and went on loan and eventually sold back for 11m EUR.
Loss = 7.35m EUR and likely 6 months @ 40k and 18 months @ 20k so 2m in wages.Just shy of 9m for 13 games.
If it wasn't for Marseille picking him mags would have paid out 28m quid on Thauvin.
Thought he would be quality Thauvin. Although did well after he left, just never looked suited to the English game.

That's the chance you take. I think the probability of success by Lingaard is greater than these young kids mentioned recently.
Mags record from France been very hit and miss. Have many improved at NUFC? Ginola, Sissoko....help me out with newer ones as don't see much of them now we are not in prem.

exactly. all they are doing is paying the transfer fee to the player in wages instead. a long contract and you run the risk of being stuck with a shit player who wont leave because he'll never get 200k a week anywhere else. with a 1 year contract they arent. if he's shit he really wont cost any more than another player they pay a fee for. if he's great he might sign on again. they are getting a cash bonus of 100-150m for getting promoted. 10m from that on a "star" player isnt really that bad.
I would say more failures than success stories. Debuchy was very good for us, but went down hill once he left, Cabaye was quality, but again, left and never lit the world up really. Obertan did okay in the Championship. Marveaux was shite. Very very hit and miss.

Not the 400k p/w I thought but 9.17m EUR net or 36m over four years aside from the share Rangers paid for half a season.
Played more than I thought also..49 games (5 goals, 6 assists).
You kind of wonder if Ekitike kid's agent knew this and that put him off. Overall, likely more failures than successes from French players coming to the prem.

Lingard is supposedly on £80k per week plus up to £40k in bonuses and signed on a free. Chris Wood is supposedly on £100k per week and signed for £25m.
Comparing the 2, Lingard looks very good value for money.

Yeah it's possible like. I don't know much about him but if he had moved to prem and struggled badly with the physicality it could have set him back years potentially. Plus the move abroad for a young player is much more challenging then staying in France (that's aside from the fact he will be playing Champs League with world class players etc etc).
So like any set of fans anywhere, or any group of people anywhere there's knackers and then there's normal folk. Both sets of fans either side of the tyne and wear divide have idiots among their support. Just like every other set of fans.
One side highlights some idiotic behaviour, then the other side points out some idiotic behaviour. It's like being in a bitter marriage or messy divorce. Neither side is perfect but both sides like to think they are closer to perfect than the other.
I know what you mean, but I don't think any other set of fans would go on like you lot over the takeover. It's cringeworthy. Did man city go on like yous? P.s.g? Petitions, marching on Parliament, saudi flag avatars, saudi flags in ground, thousands dancing around with saudi robes and headress on when takeover is announced, saudi picky teas, harassing khashoggis fiancee and amnesty international, lasses converting to Islam, morals sidelined to sign Chris Wood. There is probably more that I have missed. You really have taken the simpleton stakes to another level.

It's easy to look for negatives but I guess Mills & Boon is ignoring (well not ignoring, more like clueless to) the fact that the Premier League financial bubble has massively increased globally since Ashley took over. This is why the likes of Spurs and the other 5 have grown commercially so much since then, global audience growth. This was probably helped by the huge growth of social media globally allowing more people access to the Premier League bubble in whatever way. Even the tweet gives a clue about the big 6 being 'elite' as they were a big part of that global growth and part of the reason why the Global TV rights are now worth more than the domestic TV rights.
The fact NUFC are 9th in that 2017/18 list isn't that bad as where were they expecting to be? It was a season after their 2nd relegation yet Leicester who were below them had won the league a couple seasons earlier so had a lot of focus on them that season and after as they also has a season in CL. West Ham had been in the Europa League the 2 seasons prior to 2017/18 season and got to the Quarter Final in the 2nd season. From 2006/07 to 2016/17, Everton finished 4th x1, 5th x 3, 6th x 2, 7th x 3, 8th x 1 so 10 season chasing Europe and a few seasons in it. They were £4m behind West Ham but £6m ahead of Leicester and £9m ahead of the next team Stoke on £18m, so nearly 50% higher than them. So was it all that bad or was it actually not that bad given their position in relation to those around them and below them?
Comparing the commercial revenue in 2018 to 2007, which was after a few decent seasons of the final big spending is a bit like comparing apples and oranges. After the 6 seasons of European football starting 2001, the club was spent up and couldn't continue with that rate of previous spending chasing success and global exposure. the commercial growth didn't happen as they faded away into mid table obscurity and their last big name signing Michael Owen got hit by injury. The old owners still didn't too bad as they made a few million out of the club for themselves didn't they along with some questionable dealings?

Aye there's negatives in the finances but there's also positives. It seems some mags wanted Ashley to maintain the ambition and spending of the previous owners ignoring the fact the club was sinking financially as they couldn't keep pace with the big clubs. Yet when you look at that commercial finance without the big 6, they were still near the best of the rest and in a mini group themselves with West Ham, Everton and eventually Leicester. Not bad considering that apart from that 5th season, they only finished as high as 10th and 1 season relegated and another in the Championship in the seasons prior.
