As much as the mags claim money talks.. FFP applys.

They are terrified of gambling on a huge signing who may flop. Hence all the minor signings they are making. When they get linked with a top player they baulk at the fee as they are shit scared to risk it.

Doesn't help Howe is manager either. They'd have attracted much better players with Emery in charge. Longer they persevere with Howe the better

Personally, I think its more that they haven't got access to the investment fund in the way most mags seem to think they have.

I just can't imagine the Saudi Arabian Royal family giving a shit about FFP. These people brought down the Twin Towers and got away with it. They thought they could murder a journalist in Turkey and nothing would happen. If they want a corruption investigation in this country shut down they tell our government to close it down and it happens. They were allowed to buy the club in the first place when Bin Salman texted Johnson and told him to make sure it was waved through.

Really can't imagine that they are full of respect for the Financial Fair Play Rules and regulations, particularly since Qatar seem to be able to do whatever they want with PSG.

Only reason I can see for them not spending a shit load of money is because they have no intention of doing so, either now or in the future imo.

And in any case, Ashley ran the club so efficiently that they could spend several times what they have so far without being affected - the Saudi's just don't appear to be interesting in doing that.

I disagree.

It won't be Saudis looking at the rules of the Premier league and Uefa. It'll be Staveleys husband.

He won't ask for money knowing it could fuck them long term. He's on a cushy number as long as they keep throwing more money at it than Ashley.

If they didn't have the funds I don't understand why they'd spend near 100m last jan.

The money is clearly there. But there is a lot more scrutiny now than there was when Chelsea and Man City bought success.

They break Premier league FFP and they get point deductions. That didn't exist before

Two Geordie's are walking through the bridges, when one of them spots a sign in a shop window.
It reads Shirts - 50p, Trousers - £1, Suits - £2.

"Here", says the first Geordie to his mate, "have you seen that, shirts 50p trousers £1, Suits £2. It looks like a canny deal. Why don't we go in, buy the lot and take them back to Newcastle and sell them on for a profit."

"Aye, that's a canny idea" says the other Geordie, "there's just one problem though. When the lady in the shop hears our accents, she won't serve us 'cause she will know we are Geordies"

"Don't worry about that" says the first Geordie, "I went to school with a mackem, I've got the accent off to a tee."

So, both the Geordies walk into the shop and ask the lady if the sign in the window is right.

"What do you mean?" she says "Shirts for 50p, trousers £1 and suits £2."

"aye that's right" says the first Geordie. "and we want to buy the lot."

The lady looks at them and smiles and says "you two are Geordies aren't you."

Both the geordies are totally shocked.

"How did you know that like?" they say.

"'Cause we're a dry cleaners you thick geordie *****!!!"

I think if you're looking more than likely to go down just after the sale has gone through, then you'd probably throw everything you can at it, no matter what the long term intentions are.

When Big Sam sent them down Ashley spent £50m the previous summer and then another 30m in the January window. - it wasn't enough though.

And anyone can do a Peter Risdale for a couple of windows. Paying out big contracts over a number of years is a different thing altogether, and they aren't getting into a position where they are committed to big 5 year contracts for top quality players, because they aren't signing top quality players. They've picked a couple of young prospects from the middle of the French league for big money, and the rest are mediocre. They can't even compete with Villa.

If the Saudis were committed to a Man City style project they'd try and blow Villa and Arsenal out of the water when bidding for players. If FFP ever became an issue, the Saudis would instruct the government to tell the PL to find that they hadn't broken any rules, even if they clearly had. I think they'd be successful as well. That is how it went when it came to buying the club, and its what the Saudis have done on numerous other occasions.

A petrostate dictatorship's megaproject centred around Chris Wood, Dan Burn, and Matt Targett? Doesn't add up at all to me.

Because 300m was an absolute steal. They will make over a bn when they sell up in a few years.

How old is he? 10? Obviously this board gets to them. We carry on ......
He’s that idiot that had a page dedicated to calling Sunderland fans seat shitting paedos. Mentally unhinged, his other account got banned as he was displaying some worrying behaviour towards children.
