If we'd been bought by the Saudis, I'd not stop being a Sunderland fan. But I'd agree with all the criticism we'd be deservedly getting. I wouldn't be celebrating or defending the owners. I wouldn't be buying the Saudi away kit. I wouldn't be saying "do your kids watch disney".

I'd be nodding in agreement with all the flak we'd be getting.

I could never understand people claiming Man Utd were our biggest rivals in the mid nineties - what utter 🐂 💩

I've followed your comments today hoping it would go away. I really don't think how seismic this takeover is. This is huge. You are now owned by a country languishing near the bottom of the freedom tables who in relative terms is a toddler where some breach of human rights is just around the corner. Many NE fellas have taken the Riyal but essentially we were doing them a favour in exporting our expertise. Here it is very much the case that they are doing the mag fans a favour. As you sign start after start you will become entirely dependent on them and they will let you know this. We are not good bedfellows at all. As soon as it was announced and some fans danced with tea towels on the club was gone - the trip to Saudi, the dancing with swords, the standing ovation for the new Chairman, the new strip - this is just for starters. Any normality and banter has gone.
