Callum Doyle

He did in a couple of games early on. Its a big risk playing him in the Championship.
I very much doubt we were in for him. Ballard is way better and I think 09 will be used as our 4th choice centre back. If we sign another CB this summer I may be proved wrong but I highly doubt it.

He is good but not in our best 3.
Exactly, Neil dropped him then we stopped conceding, not saying it was entirely his fault but I get the feeling Neil doesn't rate him, weren't exactly in a rush to get him back. Saying that the lads only 18 and will become a very good defender imo. Good luck to the lad

Early days but Ballard looks an upgrade to me, especially at this point in time with his championship experience already

I agree, but Doyle is Left footed and would have been at the very least decent cover with what we have got. I do smile when I read on here he isn’t vey quick, many past and current exceptional CH’s aren’t massively quick but they read the game exceptionally well. I bet Doyle will end up one of their best players next season.

Will he go on to be an England International - who knows.

What I do know right now is that he's chubby for a young footballer and got bigger as the season went on in my opinion.
He has a lovely left foot which we saw less and less of as last season progressed
He won about 5 headers all season absolute maximum. Be really looked like a boy in that respect.
He got overplayed which was bad on our part.

We do need a young ball playing CB but nonetheless I'm honestly not bothered at all that we that aren't signing him for this season as its at a season too soon for him in the Championship in my opinion.

I'd rather have someone with another year or two under their belt.

Who the fuck is this clown? Another fan of a wank club with fuck all history infesting this board.

Be good for you to see a crowd on the opening day given your shite attendances at Wasps stadium last season.

7th highest home attendance in the champ ain't bad considering some people still boycott. try again.

Nice lad but AN moved him Out of first team pretty rapid no where near experienced enough for first team football got a lot of learning todo
AN moved him out because he is a good coach and Doyle was gash.

I get the lad was young and overplayed, but he doesn't even know where to stand. Not a clue. His positioning was woeful, especially without a talker next to him (i.e without Wright in the defensive set-up) and he had no pace to cover for this deficiency.

Tbh, he looked like someone who Man City had signed because of his very good range of passing and thought, given his build and that, he was worth a punt and trying to create an elite defender. The players they need have to be elite in technical ability and passing first and maybe they hope the rest will come. For most others clubs, we just have to look at it the other way and in that respect League One imo utterly rumbled him.

He was our worst player last year (for those who played 10+ games). Thinking we should be in for him in a league above is madness and Neil knows.

But he doesn't read a f***ing thing, that's his number one problem, way more than his pace.

Or it was never a 2 year loan in the first place?

I think it was a possibility, but it was never a “2 year loan deal”

No I don't think it was ever arranged as a two year deal. Just basically our player again if we wanted him and were promoted iirc.

Obviously City want him out on loan so the optional year would make sense for all parties. Ultimately he just wasn't good enough - far from it - so we signed someone else instead.

He may well go on to have a decent Career once he learns the game more but it was way too early for him here.

I don’t know whether City see Coventry as a step up or a step down? On paper given their season last year, do you think they think it’s a step up for the lad?
