If it was me, you'd have me bang to rights by now, Shirley? Like, if I'd made the points you thought I did, you'd just quote them. Dead easy. Still waiting.

And no, I've not made any straw man arguments. You still don't seem have an understanding of the term
You have. You said no Newcastle fan revelled in the atrocities that saudi commits, then you agree that some mags were messaging khashoggis wife. So saying that nobody was revelling in the atrocities ,is absolute bullshit. Understand?

I said I didn't believe that any fans were out celebrating human rights abuses on the night of the takeover and I stand by it.

I didn't say there weren't any numpties abusing people on Twitter over it.

Keep looking

What is waving a flag around? Celebrating a countries culture? You know, a country that kills kids, gay people, and let's grown men marry children. Therefore celebrating these things. How do you feel about that, by the way? Men marrying 11 year old girls ok with you?

Not my cup of tea to be honest.

I mentioned fans dressing up/waving flags yesterday too. Ignorant and misguided I think I said. Again I doubt it was them celebrating those particular aspects of Saudi Arabia, because who the fuck does that? Most probably the idea of them spunking oil money around was getting them going. I dunno. Benefit of the doubt.

That window's gone now by the way. Too late in the day to be claiming ignorance now, anyone doing so has gone full on sports wash. Or they're really quite thick

It's laughable how it doesn't matter what us or they do, they'll always spin it in someway to laugh at Sunderland. I'll never understand the sheer, blinding arrogance of a set of supporters like I do Mags.

Saw something on Twitter whereby Mags were laughing at our players for printing their boarding tickets off, that's after laughing at the fact the airport only references one city... (Despite being funded by Tyne and Wear)

Utterly pathetic, where this superiority complex comes from i'll never know if I live until im 100.

It's bizarre. The most arrogant and deluded fans in the country by a landslide

Other sets of fans you can understand.

Man United and Liverpool are massive clubs. Been successful for decades. Biggest two in the country comfortably. Arsenal to a lesser extent come into this category.
Man City and Chelsea are newly-rich. Been shite for a while and then the last 20 years or so had lots of success quickly.
Spurs ...sorta. Had bits and bobs of success....Cockneys so don't recognise a world outside of London.

There's only Villa that I can put close to the Mags. But even Villa have won a few leagues in the early 80s I think? Won a European Cup, won a few League Cups etc. But even they aren't as bad.'

Nowt comes close to their arrogance. Not just about their club, about sneering about another area so close to them like they do...

Leicester won the premiership. They've played in Europe in recent memory.

Don't recall any protests or petitions demanding a change of ownership because the current set up aren't showing "ambition".

They have much more right than Newcastle to expect their club be in the top 6.

You do know the whole takeover thing was going on for about a year, don't you? The human rights abuses were well known, and brought to the attention of all Newcastle fans, well before the actual takeover night. So to plead they were ignorant, is a bit delusional. I know you don't want to think the worst of your fans, but they knew exactly what they were doing, and what that flag represents( genocidal, child killing, fascists). Add to that the staunch defence of your owners, attacks on the likes of khashoggis fiancee, amnesty etc.,the whataboutery, and the lack of any kind of dissent from your fans, makes me think the majority of you couldn't give a flying f#ck about what the Saudis get up to, and at worst, revel in it.

We have been here before ....one recent golden period from 92-07 with almost some trophies. Mid-Low Div 1/Prem football team with less seasons in top 4 (18) than outside of top flight (28). They are a myth that only get noticed because they shout loud.

For those who like stats the pre-ashley standard deviation was 9.8. He reduced that to 4.5 even with 2 relegations - look at the amplitude if the red line compared to 50's-80's...

All time= 14.3
Ashley= 14.0
Pre-Ashley 14.4
92-07 8.53
Post WWII 15.31
WWII to Ashley 15.61
Prem Years= 11.17

And for comparison....

All time average = 16.9th.

I like this stuff.
What is the average positions for the "big 6"? I think i saw once that man uniteds was about 8th, Liverpool was 3rd maybe iirc

Do your appearances in the Intertoto Cup and then your extra appearance in the UEFA Cup thanks to winning that count towards the 14? That seems reasonable.

I don't blame you for not being happy at Ashley, it was the histrionics that was so frustrating. Your fans comparing themselves to clubs in genuine trouble, the absolutely ridiculous, embarrassing tactics employed by fans. All you did was show some of the very worst people in the world who have money that you're so desperate to cling on to a very brief and now distant period of relative success that you would accept anyone willing to spend more than Ashley. You'll be arguing about the Saudis for as long as they're there. Who cares though when you're bringing in Dan Burn and Matt Targett, eh?
Even if you disregard the Intertoto we were in Europe 10/14 seasons prior to Ashley, that's pretty regular if you ask me.

There was a lot of "Ashley isn't bad, look at Wigan ffs!" from other fans. Which, if you were to extrapolate it across football, no fanbase can complain about their owner/how their club is run, unless they support the very worst run club on the planet.

I, and everyone I know, were excited about Kenyon's proposal, or the Mexican group, or anybody other than Ashley. That it's the Saudis is a damning indictment of Ashley, the O&D test, the PL, the FA and the British Government. They were the only group that had a bid accepted, so they were the only takeover available to us. We wanted ANY takeover, so groups of Newcastle fans did their utmost to push it through. Ultimately nothing we did had any influence on the deal as it was the Saudis ending the state sanctioned piracy of Qatar's broadcasting that broke the deadlock.

Your last point is funny mind. We were roundly mocked on here for demanding Mbappe and Haaland when no one was. Now that the fans are pleased with the signings of Pope, Burn, Targett you're trying to make out like they're bad/disappointing signings? Literally every signing we've made is an upgrade on what was here already.
That’s because you spent money you didn’t have and you would have went into administration if it wasn’t for Mike Ashley, who payed off the astronomical debt left behind by Hall/Shepherd. This is what makes your dislike towards Ashley irrational. He ran you sustainably and within your means. Face it you’re a mid-table team at best.

Also, considering all the money you spent you still won nowt and underachieved. You only realistically challenged once for the title, you failed to score in the two cup finals you were in and you got thumped whenever you played in Europe.
maybe 30% of this is true, the rest is just your bias.
