Covered all this yesterday. I don't believe the night the takeover went through people were celebrating Saudi culture. They were celebrating Ashley selling up and owners with ambition coming in. Ignorant and misguided, yes. Celebrating human rights abuses, no.

I've not dressed up in tea towels or any of that palaver. Didn't sign the petition either. But I am glad my club is now at least trying to compete

We had, 14 years of regular European competition, a couple of tilts at the title under Keegan and Robson, a couple of FA cup finals, etc. I'm not comparing us to Man Utd and Arsenal in that way, and you know it. I'm saying, simply, we had good reasons to dislike Ashley and twisting yourself in knots to say we were wrong to, is really silly.

Leeds won the league the year before football was invented then, less than a decade later, were CL Semi-finalists before going 20 years outside of the top flight. Again, were their owners the Devil incarnate?

I don't blame you for not being happy at Ashley, it was the histrionics that was so frustrating.
