NUFC/Sportswashing - Summer 2022

Good point. The good thing about the internet is as much as mags can pretend they secretly wanted Broja we all know otherwise! Currently on a run of 13 games without a goal for Soton. Of his goals all against lower teams (Spurs aside).

But yet is straight in dream line up...clueless about football!

Broja ahead of Wilson is madness.

I remember seeing that picture very shortly after it happened. Still one of the most tragically poignant pictures I have ever seen. Imagine being reduced to doing that..............

Yeah. Recently read that they believe nobody committed suicide. It was the desperation to live that they jumped for one gasp of clean air!

Mags love it though!

I saw a documentary about a year or so ago where the bloke who took the picture became really obsessed with finding out who the guy was. I think it may have been called The Falling Man and probably on Netflix

Harrowing stuff. 20+ years ago now and I can still remember watching it unfold on the news.

I take it you didn’t realise that Bin Laden was a Saudi, or that 15 of the 19 responsible for 9-11 were Saudis, or that the Saudi state has been proven to have funded these people during their time in America with living expenses, flying lessons, etc… prior to the atrocity.
Nivva happined 🥹 wull change them
No. I have never and would never say that.
Good owners though ??

Did "your clerb" getting bought (after 100K+ petitions) FIFA "visits" a local Labour MP asking questions in the HoP, by child murdering, homophobic women stoning absolute disgusting filth surprise you at all?
Or is your moral compass that far out of kilter ??
What is the question here? Did the saudis buying the club surprise me? Well yes, because I thought it was dead in the water.

What makes a good owner? I like the changes that have happened in the club. It doesn’t change the fact that the Saudi state is an abhorrent collection of individuals.

if thats a top 8 team i will bare my arse in joblings window

Just want a team that tries.
I’m not sure what’s wrong with this? What is the accusation?

Our squad is full so if we want to sign any more players, we need to sell. So sell or move on the players who aren’t playing. Or do you think all players should be kept in a squad until their contract expires?

Quoted for posterity.

I don’t think we’ll get top 8 but I think it’s a reasonable target. Diaby and Tielemens won’t be signing. But if they did, I don’t think suggesting that their addition (along with Botman) moving a team from 11th to 8th is so ridiculous.

I hope they don't sing "The loyalist fans the world has ever seen".

A club with ambitions beyond mediocrity need to move players on, some of them have been with the club since the Championship season (the second one obvs).

It's not disloyal to move players on who aren't good enough, it's football.

If you could replace your squad to better attack the Championship, you'd do it in a heartbeat. But, of course, NUFC= Bad, so logic and reason goes out the window, doesn't it?

If only it was as easy as deciding to move them on. They are in contract and probably not likely to get anywhere near their current wages elsewhere so in all likelihood your stuck with them. They may not get squad numbers but still count towards ffp.

Sounds familiar 🤔

I think a few of them will go to championship clubs. Ritchie and gayle will both still do a job there. Though maybe not as starters. I imagine Almirante will go to Spain. I like him but he’s not getting the opportunities he wants so hopefully a deal can be made that pleases everyone.

I take it then nothing they do matters to you as long as changes at the club continue to happen ?
Moral vacuum for the sake of football success
As a matter of interest what manifestly different changes have happened at this club except pathetic hyped hysteria about new players who are all suddenly the best in the country ?? Remember your manager was the boards 7th ? choice so that wasn’t planned

I agree with the bottom bit, the difference in that squad now compared to 12 months is significant. I don’t think it is out of the question that one of Tielemens or Erickson will end up at Newcastle, both seem the type that would go for money.

I think the point is Burn has only just arrived and one of your brethren had ejected him from the team in favour of someone who he has likely seem 30 seconds of on you tube. Likewise, Almiron gives his all on the pitch but is now surplus to requirements. This shows the "team that tries" mantra is complete bullshit. See how Liverpool moved the Japanese kid on - did it was class. I hope those out of favour players rinse Newcastle for everything they get and stink the dressing room out.

I saw a reply to someone questioning the Saudi's execution record on Facebook the other day where the bloke basically said the people will have deserved it, suggesting we are too lenient in this country, he then went onto explain the length and detail their trials go into (failed to mention thousands being held without trial or even charge) and said that becuase its been their custom for thousands of years, it was none of our concern in 2022.
It was possibly the most profound piece of sportswashing I've seen, so far.

Come-on man, how can your whole regard for human life disappear overnight, merely so the football club you support can pay more money for players? The ones who say they merely support their club and owners aren't something they can do much about fair enough (as long as they didn't sign the petition) but this? Its a game of football mate, these people in the last mass one were someone's son, brother, father etc (a couple were children) and their lives were just snuffed-out.

That bloke a mag then ? . Need not answer in truth because of course he was.

Wonder what his views would have been if the Saudi west haters had bought say Southampton or Leeds.

Or us

Unless they pull a few big signings off before window closes I think they are going to get a shock.

They won a lot of points against sides who took foot off the pedal towards end of the season with very little possession.

When everyone starts on 0 do they honestly think they are going to repeat those results?

Can't wait till there on 10 points from ten games and starting to question howe

The saudis can’t really get any worse. So we have the option to either a) stop supporting the club we have done our whole life b) try and separate the two things, and accept that as a result we’re compromised c) whole heartedly embrace it and start wearing Saudi flags and tea towels on our heads.

The vast majority have gone for b. I respect those who have gone for a, but I couldn’t do that. I’ve thought about it a lot. Those who choose c are obviously idiots. There are some in b who use whatabouttery etc, and they are closer to c. There is no defending the saudis.

I think Erikson will end up at one of the big 6 tbh.

Oh I see what you mean. I’d not drop burn. He’s the best defender at the club that I know

I don’t think Almiron is surplus to requirements but his agent is angling him for a move. I’d love him to stay but if he wants to move to get more game time I respect that. I think most fans would feel the same. He’s a bit of a fan’s favourite precisely because of his work ethic.

Well those people are idiots anyway. There’s no saving some people.

(I am talking about the posters - not those executed!)

You wouldn’t mind if they admitted the atrocities gannin on in Saudi, Yemen, 9/11 etc but they actually defend them. They must’ve been pissing themselves laughing at how easy this Sportswashing has been.
