Football fans never learn. New Owners are always celebrated as saviours and heroes. Very few actually are. Most have zero connection with the club or any passion for the game. Its a business to them

Ashley was the hero when they nearly went bust. Reynolds had his name sung at Darlington because he was "ambtious".

The fawning and adoration of the Saudis could well come back to haunt them

(Though if it happens, you won't find a single mag who ever wanted them. You'll start hearing stories of mythical protests against them taking over and they'll all start saying things like "I hated the green and white away kit")

I know it's not a huge sample but back in May '20 Jamos Rodriguez was the name touted on toon polls....

Good point. The good thing about the internet is as much as mags can pretend they secretly wanted Broja we all know otherwise! Currently on a run of 13 games without a goal for Soton. Of his goals all against lower teams (Spurs aside).
