When will football decide enough is enough?

As long as Oil rich billionaires want to play and Asia maintains its appetite for football then it’ll continue to spiral into a sport we don’t recognise

The revenue is there. It will either go to the players or be pocketed by the owners. It’s just supply and demand of labor. That’s their value.

As mentioned - some less than amazing NBA players are pushing $50 million a year, which is basically 1 mil per week. Salah is an absolute steal in comparison- I almost feel bad for the footballers when I see the numbers!

Not specifically talking about money..I am speaking about the Apathy to the leagues and Clubs that is more apparent now than at any time I can recall.. Any phone in, talk show has plenty of comment on this subject.
They all have so much apathy about the game they are spending their times listening to football phone in shows and calling in.

For those big clubs like Liverpool , I don’t even think a crowd attending won’t make much difference. They have the world watching on streams etc etc. they could charge £2 a game for streams and get around £20 million back from around the world

and that’s each match, nigh on £760 million a season
I agree but its more than just the stream isn't marra?

It is impossible for me to quantify, but if Liverpool sell around 250 thousand tops with Salahs name over 3 seasons, then that would comfortably cover his 50 million plus contract.

I personally think there would be more than that sold throughout the world and particularly in Asia.

These world class players are not just assets on the pitch, they sell merchandise.

liverpools profit on the sale of 250k of salah tops fpr three years wouldnt pay salahs wage...if they make 20profit per top...bearing in mind the kit maker and retailer and VAT man have to be paid..they would get around £16m per year...or £48m in three years...he is on aroubd £22m a year..or £66m in 3 years...

The OP said 52 million over 3 years.

I'm not going to split hairs with you. I said I couldn't quantify. My post was simply to highlight that likes of Salah and Co will increase revenue and virtually pay for themself!

Always hated the comparisons to doctors and nurses, it just doesn't make sense.

Maybe I'll approach Sky and BT and see what kind of TV deal I can get for televising my appointments with clients.

I should have really stuck in during my business studies lessons, shouldn't I.

Thank you for trying to educate me marra.

Salah will earn £52m over 3 years (and he's not anywhere near the highest paid players) and whilst I don't begrudge him receiving it (as Liverpool are willing to pay it), a surgeon who performs life saving surgery on children, us and who knows maybe Salah one day won't even earn 1% of that over 3 years.

Surely the football hierarchy needs to set caps on spending across Europe same for every club?

In a few years we are going to get players being paid £1m per week (it can't be sustainable surely????) and at which point I can honestly see fans being turned off.
Doesn’t Mbappe already get 1 million a week?

A cap of £10k a week should have been set years ago. Too late for any cap now. The reason clubs get into financial difficulties is because the lions share of their turnover goes on players wages

Its simply not going to happen, the money in the game now, is permanent, we ether get in the game or get left behind, and forgotten about.

It's too far gone now unfortunately. The biggest, richest clubs will get bigger and richer and the rest will be left behind to feed on the scraps. I'm glad I remember going to Roker in the 70s, 80s and early 90s when football was played for the fans because it's a right shitshow now.

My interest in the sport is at an all time low.

People don’t want to pay extra tax for doctors and nurses, yet they are quite happy to be ripped off by Sky and BT.
