Wasn’t so long ago Mike Ashley was giving away tickets. Imagine having 60,000 empty seats when things go tits up.

.....which they inevitably will! There is zero chance the owners will build a new stadium. To get to the capacity they desire it would cost close to 1bn. If they added another 30k seats and managed to extract 1k per seat per year it would take 33 years to pay back. They will make the right noises, like the are considering it etc. but they won't. They have already dampened the idea of a new training ground saying it will take 3-5 years so instead give the old one a lick of paint. These guys aren't daft. Sold by Summer '26.

There’s no way they’d pull down SJP after just spending money on having the windows cleaned.

Note further that using the pre-covid accounts they were extracting just over 23 quid per fan per game. That grosses up, over 19 games, to 437 per season. At those levels it will take 50+ years to recoup the stadium cost.

Prices will rise, and in a working class area that is not something to be proud of.

Not forgetting this period of austerity. Could be 2 years could be 5 etc , who knows ?
People aren't going to spend money on going to watch eddieball 30% possession when unable to heat house or feed the kids.

Good point. Also, whilst I hope it never returns there is also the prospect of playing with zero fans present. These guys are too shrewd to commit to a 1bn project against that background.

But I wouldn't rule out a SE training base at some point.

They're buying or in advanced negotiations to buy a lot of land around SJP and the local area...think they may be in it for the long haul unfortunately.

That said, I’ve got zero time for these pricks who gave up their season tickets then think they should be front of the queue. Fuck that.
