SMB Tennis thread

He has basically played this tournament injured getting injections in his foot, not sure like.
Getting alternative treatment next week, burning the nerve endings off....if that doesnt work he wont play Wimbledon, says he wont go down the injection route again as it was a one off so he could play here. Apparently he couldnt even walk after his 3 set 2nd round win, then he got the injections for each match after.

I'm starting to get the feeling for the first time that Rafa is actually on his way out, I think he'll play Wimbledon one more time whether it be this year or next but I don't think he's long for the tour anymore.

Injured, targeting comeback at wimbledon.
Zverev, good on grass, probably misses wimbledon.
Federer injured.
Nadal will he play?
Felix i think could be in the final if hes in the other half to Djokovic.

Cilic was 100/1 for Wimbledon a month back, liked that but didn't back it. 40's now. Quite like the look of Taylor Fritz at 66's each way as well.

I know it's still Wimbledon but I wouldn't be surprised if there's a few shocks here and there with no ranking points on the line. If a big name player is two sets down is he really gonna go all out to try and claw it back? I'm not sure.

yeah playing another tournament like that would not be good for him

On an unrelated note, has anyone ever had back row centre court tickets before? We‘ve got two in the ballot but I’m unsure just how bad the roof will overhang.

Thanks, we’re in block 513 but the wife wants to be able to see the Royal Box.
Get there early before the 1st match as the court is free to enter and you can get photos of the court.
The wife and i got photos with us as the only ones in the court, and she didnt even have a ticket for centre.

Sue Barker retiring from presenting Wimbledon after this year (her 30th). Love a bit of Sue, suppose we'll be lumbered with Balding for the next 20 years now.

Joined the local tennis club couple months ago.. started doing cardio tennis Saturday mornings and now playing 2 or 3 times a week . Love it but elbow is knacked..

Anyway give any in the top 100 a run for their money now 😎😉
 Your under arm serve may come under a bit of pressure though.

Love playing tennis too, me. Great exercise if you are playing someone of equal ability but not so much fun if you're not. Dislike playing doubles though. It's a more social game obviously and can be a better laugh, but as a form of exercise, not so much.

I hate singles... Doubles lots of fun

I actually like playing players of better ability..

Played tonight. Me, two old farts and a tennis coach..

We ended up 6-4 against the coach.. thats a win on my book

Harriet Dart beats Camila Giorgi to advance to the quarters in Nottingham. Dart pushing for a top 100 place. Georgi is at her best ranking ever after good performances in Australia and Paris.

Sir Andrew up a set on Tsitsipas in the quarter final at Stuttgart. Murray had break point at 4-4 and from that point I'm pretty sure Tsitsipas made every single first serve for the rest of the set  16 in a row I believe? Muzz got lucky on a net cord in the tie break to snatch it.

On the brink of the top 50 if he can get through here, would be well inside the top 50 on the 2022 rankings. Be unseeded at Queens so it's unlikely but a nice kind draw and a little run wouldn't got amiss next week.

That's a stinker of a draw for Murray, real shame. Wasn't expecting him to win it but thought he had a really good chance of reaching the second week. Duckworth > Isner > Sinner/Wawrinka > Alcaraz/Otte > Djokovic. Accepted that my Alcaraz bet is all but in the mud after that draw for him as well. Good draw for Djokovic overall, Alcaraz and Hurkacz in the top half with him with Berrettini, Cilic, Nadal and FAA all in the bottom half. Rafa potentially has Cilic fourth round, Felix in the quarters, Berrettini in the semis and Djokovic in the final. That's erm... not ideal now is it? even before then he could have Querrey and Kudla dropping bomb serves in the early rounds.

Trying to pick a winner in the women's borders on impossible, relatively kind draw for Swiatek though. Raducanu's got a rubbish draw in from the very first round onwards so not expecting much other than the Daily Mail readers and twitter to explode with how she's a brat and should focus more on tennis etc. Might have a couple quid on Angie Kerber looking at that draw.

Djokovic with a cakewalk of a draw.
Rafa with a pretty tough one.
My Djokovic bets are looking good sadly :(

Womans top half is stacked, williams has got a tough draw.
Bottom half looks set up for Jabeur to go deep if shes fit

Djokovic's route looking a touch easier even on top of the initial draw with Alcaraz seemingly crocked. Good news for Murray more importantly I guess.

Did my brackets yesterday and had Murray reaching the quarters before losing to Djokovic  maybe a tad optimistic.
