Do you not think consolidating in that mid table area would be a good outcome? I think that's probably what you're aiming for at the moment. Looking at your recruitment, that looks to be the target.

No point aiming for a mid table finish. After the form shown over the second half of the season, mid table should just be taken as the minimum imo.
If you set targets lower then standards slip, imo. How many teams do you see "on the beach" when survival is ensured?

I don't expect to challenge for Europe, but i don't think just saying finishing near where we did again should be the aim.
Try and have a go for the top 6 and if you fail (very likely) then so be it, but i think Villa, ourselves, west ham, Leicester and probably Everton will all have the aim of trying to be 'best of the rest'. If you can get 7th there's a chance of Europe.

In my opinion we should be looking to compete with west ham, villa, Brighton etc in the top 10 rather than thinking 10th or 11th would be good. I'd probably be quite happy with a comfortable season, but aim high and if you fail you might still have a good season.

Lol

I absolutely love this thing now, of media both home and abroad, adding Newcastle United to pretty much every major story. Almost every big transfer, real or imaginary, of proper elite players, seeing Newcastle United tagged on.

Whereas once upon a time we would be included with the likes of Burnley, West Brom and Huddersfield when it came to listing clubs supposedly after a certain player, we are now added to PSG, Man City and Real Madrid!!

If only it wasnt combined with owners chopping people into little bits, stuffing them in a bin bag and having a barbeque to burn it all up.

Aye, well I hope you do fail.

Mags finished where they did playing attritional football and conceding possession. Finishing 12th but dominating possession would be an improvement. Else they continue to play the way they were, concede possession and hit Wilson/wood, and make lower part of top half. To me that wouldn’t be progress.

I think it is bound to happen. But people thinking NUFC are going to be challenging for the league or whatever next season are mental.
By the end of the decade would be an achievement. To challenge for the title means bettering City & LFC. They are simply miles better than the rest. The rest are considerable ahead of us as well.

No chance. You’ll have paid your way into the European Super League having won absolutely nowt and will be making the numbers up by languishing near the bottom of it. You’ll be living in perpetual misery after the initial joy of lording it over us having joined the European top table. Then a new Labour government will cut all diplomatic ties with Saudi and you’ll be left penniless, evicted from the super league and the Premier League will veto your return. You’ll then take up your rightful position in the Scottish third division and look forward to the home derby with Berwick at Blue Flames.

Mark my words…

Really?
So we will do no better than last season. On what basis do you arrive at that conclusion, logic or simply blind hope?
In regard to "half decent"....
Arsenal, Palace, Leicester, West Ham, Leeds. All of these would, in my humble opinion, fall into the category of being half decent. We didn't get "turned over".
You got knocked out of the FA cup by a third division Cambridge and whenever you played a half decent team ACTAULLY playing for something you got battered. You also play shit football and got lucky on a numerous occasions.

Next season will be a rude awakening when you get found out and Eddie Howe’s job gets called into question.

Mad prediction.
Finishing 12th would actually be worse than last season.
Early cup exits again, and a 12th place finish is regression. I don't see that happening tbh
Another deluded mag.

Playing lower league football would surely give us moral superiority. How would you cope?
