Much though I hate the mags mind, if this is true its pretty depressing for football as a whole. Some sides so far ahead that no one can catch them, even if they get a massive injection of cash. So what's the hope for the rest of us if even a multi billionaire (who is happy to splurge) takeover can't get you to the top table? Can't compete sustainably because they get CL money (and even if they miss out it looks like there'll be "wild card" entries to get them in) and your side gets picked apart before you can grow it. Can't compete if you hit the jackpot in terms of a wealthy, happy to spend owner. Maybe getting to the top was never realistic, but it feels like it's getting further and further away for all but the pre-existing (and lucky to be in the right place at the right time) "elite"
Two words. Leicester City.

Aye, but the lads saying that Newcastle won't be able to compete no matter how much they spend etc. So my point is that if that's the case and that now, no level of funding can bridge the gap, then it's pretty depressing for all concerned. In reality I think he's wrong, I think with the right amount of funding teams can still get around FFP and be successful because I don't think much has changed since the Leicester season, and if you add major backing to a club to allow them to grow season on season there's no reason why others from outside the top few couldn't break into it. It's just annoying that they look the most likely at present

The Big 4 will keep improving so the Gap will remain. Any player who these clubs are in for would chose them over the Mags for lots of reasons. I'd love to know how many players have knocked them back because they don't want the stigma attached to them or indeed to get grilled at every turn as the LIV golfers have.

Utter hype on ITV North News. Some berk saying he was looking forward to the fixtures now we can think about beating the likes of City and Liverpool.

Based on what, exactly? We played them only a few weeks ago and got utterly toyed with. They've both spent over £50 mill on two of the world's promising strikers. Complete hot air.

I suspect zero. At the very top level players may be worried about the impact on image rights but not in the pond they are fishing in. The top and bottom is they are not in Europe and if any agents watched them play hoof ball (out of necessity to get off the bottom) they looked years away from being in Europe. The only thing that can change that is over paying which they seem reluctant to do.

I think some genuinely think they are going to challenge for the title this season. Some Mags were talking about it today and it was that situation where youre not quite sure if they joking or not

I have heard the same - they got 49 points and gave everyone a head start as they didn't win until after 14 games. If they started as they ended they would be top 4 easily.

The mags will finish 12th at best and will be knocked out of all the cups in the early rounds. Last season proved whenever they played any half decent opposition they got turned over.
