NUFC and other Sportswashing Spring 2022

Players could also be using the Mags to drive up the offers from other clubs but I wonder how many potential signings are wondering what the questions will be in their interview given what went on in the golfers interviews? It's obvious most players will be coming for blood money given the higher wages they will need to be offered to go to the Mags rather some of the other clubs interested in them.

The Saudi bashing has died down a bit now though next LIV tournament is just over 3 weeks away, with another couple in the following month so no doubt it will get publicity again and questions will be raised. Given the Premier League and F1 is a Sky thing and the golf isn't then Sky certainly won't be a part of it.

Us Open starts today mate. Every LIV golfer will be getting questioned throughout

The problem Newcastle have is that Liverpool and Man City are miles ahead already and are buying players that are well out of reach of Newcastle. Haaland and to a lesser extent Nunez are not only tremendous players but intelligent signings both of which will improve already world class teams.

Newcastle had to make do with Chris Wood who wouldn’t get on the bench of any of the top 10 teams in the country and this has eaten up quite a bit of the ffp budget.

I personally don’t think that money now will close the gap and bring success, maybe if they came in 10 years ago but not now.
Much though I hate the mags mind, if this is true its pretty depressing for football as a whole. Some sides so far ahead that no one can catch them, even if they get a massive injection of cash. So what's the hope for the rest of us if even a multi billionaire (who is happy to splurge) takeover can't get you to the top table? Can't compete sustainably because they get CL money (and even if they miss out it looks like there'll be "wild card" entries to get them in) and your side gets picked apart before you can grow it. Can't compete if you hit the jackpot in terms of a wealthy, happy to spend owner. Maybe getting to the top was never realistic, but it feels like it's getting further and further away for all but the pre-existing (and lucky to be in the right place at the right time) "elite"

It will come and go but never truly disappear. Every time they raise their sportswashing activity newspapers and human rights groups will react.

KSA will keep sponsoring western sport because above all Sportswashing works - the lads on here mitigating human rights abuses are just the tip of the iceberg

Al-Rumayyan can't fart without bin Salman's permission - that's the way Saudi works.
Totally agree. I work with Saudi telecom companies and they can’t go for a piss without consulting the ‘Ministry’

It’s almost impossible but not quite.. Leicester gave a lot of clubs hope!

Given what they’ve gone through with PSG it makes sense but! The only person linking them to this kind of deal is the writer himself.
The link to NUFC was in the quoted newspaper article. It in turn is in reference to the quoted Marca article which mentions “clubs-estados” which is apparently state owned clubs. The leap to NUFC wasn’t from the author of the mag article which is what you seemed to be suggesting. I do agree though that the original article would likely only be related to their rage over Mbappe.

I wouldn't place any seriousness in any of his comments. He still believes he is the reason the murdering bastards bought them. He needs sectioning.

Edit: it is because of people like him they bought them. The most easily brainwashed & sportswashed. Got the right Club for their goals.

They didn’t buy it for the club. Hundreds of miles away from London, honking infrastructure, team needed serious investing

They bought a job lot of ready-sportswashed thickies who were perfect for their needs. Best fans in the world for diverting attention from unsavoury regimes.

The trouble they’ve got is, other than Guimares, every signing they’ve made will leave the club on less money than what they brought them in for … which will cost them down the line when it comes to FFP.
