Not that far down. As east as you can get on the free stretch in Durham city centre. Water may be a bit brackish I’m not sure though.

Aye Namibia was the place to go for bronze whalers.
I nearly went to Guinea Bissau but the head of the military beheaded the president and his wife the day before so we swerved it :lol:

the water is a bit brackish, you get harbour rag under the rocks when tide is out, but also catch chub, dace, perch, roach, trout, gudgeon and rudd, mostly dace and chub though, just wondered if anyone had ever had any barbel out, and pike aswell come to think of it, never seen either caught down there but would be interested to know if anyone else has and if so, which spot, cheers.

Storm did a great one for about £50 years ago. I used it for spinning and even flatties in the river. Alright for a big sea float too. Il have a look and see if they do a similar one.

Storm x adventure seems similar. Small fixed spool will go canny with it. Will cast a single spinner or large sea float. Tbh it’s hard trying to find one rod for more than one use these days as there is a rod for every situation.

The boy(11yr old) is absolutely bang in to his fishing at the minute. My old man(retired, long time fisherman) takes him, started on bait fishing but he’s graduated to fly fishing and is decent at it. He’s just been doing lakes in Northumberland, chatton, Thrunton and a couple others I can’t remember, but he’s catching shed loads of fish and only does catch and return now cos we’ve no space in the freezer for anymore trout. I’m hoping I can convince him to come along blyth pier for mackerel in the next few months, or maybe a boat trip out.
