The Fishing Thread

Exactly what i thought, boats rods, but on a bit of research I also saw all the spinning gear.

Boat rods are sticks anyway. I fished with two lads who used a boat around Filey Brig and they loaned me a rod that was about 4 feet long made of hickory and matched with a Scarborough reel.

Worked absolutely fine, had zero flex but dragged stuff up no bother.
Have you seen the boat up Shetland a lot of sunderland lads go to in the summer for cod, link, pollack, coalies? Big fish and lots of them, I wouldn't mind a trip up to be honest 🎣

No havn't seen that but I caught a cod off Craster years ago and we think it was attacked by a ling and all I got back was a head!

I'm reading that anglers are catching Pike in Derwent Reservoir
what F***in idiot put Pike in there?
Only a matter of time before they are in the River.

I used to got to Africa fishing with a bunch of lads who started Thailand trips, but I never got the chance to go. They now do shark fishing in South Africa which seems another level again.
I actually remember when brit anglers "discovered" beach shark fishing in Namibia, always fancied it, one thing I will get the chance to do is fish for shark in the florida "canals".

Does it not happen naturally.
I've heard loads of reasons including eggs being carried on bird's feet, all rubbish
They will have been put in the water by an idiot with an agenda
The fly anglers will be annoyed as will the Derwent organisation

Mind the pike will get big!
Yes stupid Stockie Rainbows won't know what's hit them
Carp?

Been there years mate.
Really, I don't fish it now but I used to go a lot and I had never heard of it holding Pike.
I think the reservoir should be big enough to hold pike as well as trout and the river could well have pike in naturally?
I've fished the river for 40 years and never seen a Pike, I've never heard of anyone who has in the club.
