As @Binxy has said, it is shite baitā€¦.but as a Tynesider and not one of the ā€œSunderland folkā€ to which you are aiming the sniping, I will take this.
Firstly: It's not a ā€˜bitā€™ of pride though is it? It is a manufactured spin for the local market. It wouldnā€™t be as over the top if it was natural.
Secondly: John Hall. Really? You really think that his utter bollix wasnā€™t simply a marketing ploy to entice a disgruntled support. It is the self same reason why you lot were chosen for the Sportswashing exercise by KSAā€¦and to be fair, like Hall prior to them, it has worked a treat.
Thirdly: Sunderland fans NEVER struggle for identity. Take a look at each and every one of the Trafalgar Square/Covent Garden videos over the years from our Wembley appearances (Itā€™s a Football Stadium in Londonā€¦look it up) show that SAFC fans know their identity and fully embrace it.

Do they think Mancs , scousers , cumbrians, cornish ( the list goes on) are envious . They're not , they're proud of where they come from and couldn't give 2 shites about f***ing Geordies, or the rest of the country generally.

I do know folk often show a dislike toward other parts of the country if they find the fuckers intolerable.

I thought anyone connected with mags in anyway only ever used transport hubs that have Newcastle in their name

Iā€™ve worked with loads of proper Geordies and they arenā€™t all bad. You can have good banter with football with them. They donā€™t over exaggerate their accent or drink ā€˜broonā€™

I used to work with a lad from Ellesmere Port, massive Liverpool fan and a thick scouse accent but he hated being called a scouser as he said he wasnā€™t one. The missus has family from London who hate being called cockneys.

Iā€™ve mentioned this before, itā€™s nowt to do with football rivalry but this whole Geordie craic is lifting. Itā€™s desperation to be liked.
