Durham’s T20 Campaign

What annoyed me the most last year was the fact the club blocked off the trapdoor stand and the county durham lower and upper then kept on putting over the tannoy asking for folk to social distance :lol: - we had no option but to sit together as spare seats were sparse. I asked stewards several times if we could social distance and go upstairs in the county durham upper and each time were told no even though it was all empty. The club must be skint but as I've said before members are pissed off at the moment and @The Red Telephone can vouch for this who is a regular at the games. We left the game very early and were back in Penshaw before the game had finished, plenty others left early, someone on here left after about 5 overs.

I think a couple of days later the same company event caused a lot of bother down at Edgabston.
They did as they invaded the pitch at Edgbaston - something that I mentioned to Bostock when I thanked him for his prompt reply to my original email expressing concerns at that farcical night when members were being told not to sit on the end seats in the aisles while in the Trapdoor and Co Durham Lower it was like the Mad Hatters Tea Party. He said he took full responsibility for it and it wouldn't be getting repeated in 2022. Hmmmm.🤔

Aye that was another things they were pedantic over........ not sitting on the end seats. They even collared my wife for not wearing her mask once out the back when she was struggling with her crutches , yet these lot ran riot unchallenged.

Honestly I try really hard to be positive about the club and drum up support, but I'm struggling when they are doing this

They're clearly skint.

Yup, totally agree which is sad. They need to be very careful.

I'm all for the club making money and exploring all possible options but this was a disaster last year and as per e-mail above the club seemed pretty clear on that.

I'll drop the club an e-mail later in the week & look for an explanation as once word gets out about this, I won't be the only one contacting the club and giving the game a miss.

It's noticeable in my e-mail Bostock said communication was poor prior to the game......... I wonder when the club intend to let members know about this event?
I wasn't at the game and rarely attend the evening T20 but the underhand way they did it was clear they where pulling a stroke.

Said this at the first game of the season against Leics when talking to a couple of fanatical and loyal members from Sunderland - this club looks like its up shit creek.
was plenty of them in them in the county durham upper as well.
Hoying up over the top of the stand as well by all accounts.

At the last zoom forum, Bostock spoke very much in favour of the Hundred claiming without its revenue half a dozen counties would go bust. Both he and North clearly prioritise white ball cricket - they're clearly in line with ECB priorities. The disgusting state of the ground and the lack of facilities for the early red ball fixtures indicates their lack of respect for full members.
Valuing Durham Defenders my @rse.
They are skint and it's even worse at other counties. Sussex have effectively become T20 specialist county with half a dozen of their top players on T20 contracts only.

IIRC Bostock was asked about the student night at the pre-season members’ forum, and said that it would be done differently this season (whatever that means). As others have mentioned, the club is skint, hence having to wait for cash from the ECB to do some of the work on the ground, and I imagine that they made a shedload (comparatively) from the students last year and were not going to lose out on that income this time. Not that I am excusing their behaviour like.

Not many of us on here like the hundred, but I fear we need the money it brings in to keep the club going. Same principle? Can we refuse these income streams and take our chances without them? I am a humble supporter and am not privy to the actual financial position the club is in. I don’t necessarily agree with these decisions/principles, but I’m not running the business. I don’t profess to know the answer, just putting it out there!

Canny anyway tell me bit about Stanley Mc?

Would really do see a young lad make progress, hope Bushnell gets a game but surprise no Luke D
He's a mere slip of a lad. I've only seen him the once and that was last week against Notts in the 2nds T20 game at the Riverside or whatever its called now. I was quite impressed as he was quite whippy and accurate and reminded me a little of a young Pottsy. However by all accounts he's prone to no balls and wides.

I think Donethy must be injured as I don't think he's featured in the 2nds XI T20 this season although he was in the nets during the Glamorgan CC match.

Doneathy is injured I believe, certainly been absent from club cricket last few weeks.
McAlinden is a tall quite lively fast bowler but wayward and a tendency to bowling no balls.
Not altogether relevant but the son of LookNorth reporter who covers Cumbria.

Weather very glum at the moment. I live about 5 miles from the ground and it's raining, albeit lightly, at the minute.

Actually have a ticket for the match but been holding off going as it looks like it's about to throw it down.
