CC :: Durham v Glamorgan

absolutely buzzing with that win like, really needed and showed so much fight

I think it showed there was a bit in the wicket compared to others

Potts, another star, another local lad from state school

Yet the ECB still tried to shaft us

We are the county that produces the most cricketers from normal households

They should be doing everything to protect and promote us, not punishing us

Still just annoys me so so much! Probs not the thread for it!

Shows strength of character to win games like that. I for one had written it off
Good and bad of Durham these last few days. "paper over the cracks" is maybe the wrong statement to make but we need to start and get stuck in more and become solid. Long way to go but I'm just happy we haven't lost this game, that was critical. Delighted we've won and hope we can push on next week as it seems like we will have a good following. Delighted for Potts

He's just a WUM. This time last year he didn't think Potts was first team quality and Salisbury should play instead.

Potts always looked a promising bowler to me, because of his accuracy. He's now added genuine pace and bounce to the accuracy.

Sadly missed his wickets today but looking forward to seeing them when I get back. He's the top wicket taker in the CC and just turned in MOTM performance in front of the England captain. England call up seems inevitable.

He is also missing the point

Absolutely nobody is saying that he should be rested in terms of helping Durham win a game, its literally the opposite of what we should do

Its like to protect a player who has bowled more than most int he country.

Durham pay his wages though so they cant not play him

this is where ECB should be paying young bowlers IMO, although you wouldnt trust them to manage him well tbf

Marty said on commentary that Glamorgan were given 5 penalty runs - means the victory margin is 58 - which makes no difference to us of course, but it’s one to keep an eye out for, because the penalty runs may just be the ‘procedure’ being followed on field so that a report can be made to begin some sort of disciplinary process off it.

We’ll see.

Regarding the umpiring, it’s impossible on the stream to judge if the ‘nicks’ behind from Labuschagne, Root and/or anyone else were indeed nicks, so perhaps we got a lucky one or two, but I felt as though there was an lbw shout against (I think) Cooke that was absolutely bang infront that wasn’t given.
It's funny that because when they were coming off I noticed our 2nd inns total had gone from 244 to 249 but I thought I was hallucinating due to the joy of our victory.

Was foaming last night at our poor batting/bowling. Had probably gifted Glamorgan in the region of 150 runs and now were staring at defeat on Day 4 instead of at least a nailed on draw. Sun was shining this morning so thought I would go down to the Riverside and and watch Glamorgan knock the runs off by 3pm or so. Except this morning the real Durham turned up and handed Glamorgan a pasting. Managed to get ourselves out of the self inflicted mess that we had created for ourselves. Lords on Thursday and hopefully more of the same.

And we took twenty wickets in the game!!

First time this season, first win too, coincidence?! ;)

Yep, not ashamed to say I was in the same camp. LOVE IT when Durham prove me wrong

It’s ALWAYS the thread for it. Never forgive, never forget, FTECB.

6th championship match in six weeks you sound as fatigued as the Durham pace attack.
Hopefully Carse is fit and available to freshen things up. He could even come in to replace Potts to give him a break.
I can't see any other changes unless Raine gets recalled or there are any injuries.
Didn't see any today but great win. I take it with my pre match selection review you lads would prefer the current coach/captain select the team rather than me.

Been any good captaincy? Whenever we lose it’s always down to shit captaincy. Just wondering if we are in a good position due to good captaincy or not?

To be honest the captaincy on Friday was embarrassing and I stand by that view as did the vast majority in the ground on Friday.......... On the flip side it just goes to show how good and how petrified Potts had Glamorgan all game. I stand by my view on Friday that Potts if he stayed on (instead of taken off after 3 overs) would have had Glamorgan all out by 2.30pm he was on fire and it's not really a shock to see them do what he has done this morning, they simply couldn't handle him.

What is also worth mentioning and I did praise at the time, was Borthwick yesterday with the bat, a proper captain's innings when it was desperately needed, just frustrating he didn't get 100 but I sincerely hope that gives him such much needed confidence to push on.

For me though the jury is still out with his captaincy as it is with quite a lot of things, again already addressed on here numerous times.

We'll see how we go on Thursday, another tough game but hopefully the determination shown today can push us on as I think we all prefer that Durham as opposed to the Durham seen so far this season and in particular the first 3 days of this game which showed so many errors/flaws in our game which are a concern.

Delighted we've won though, didn't care how we managed it but that game was so big for us as we are now in amongst it as had we lost we would have been well adrift.

Great win, great bowling and I'm sure I'm not the only one who thinks Potts is Test quality.

I can't help feeling that there's still problems to overcome as only Potts is taking wickets and he might disappear into the England set up.

What's up with Rushy? Is it the ball? The pitches? Or is it him in some way? I'd like to know.

Maybe I'm worrying at nowt and his lowish bowling returns are just down to bad luck.

The good news is at the end Carse seemed to get his mojo back so that's something.
Just watched

Just watched Potts being interviewd by Marty. He speaks well, good interview, worth a listen.

👏👏👏
I wonder if Badger's team talk this morning involved making the players and coaches read last nights comments on here 😉
That's a cracking mature interview with Potts mind
