Council Tax Rebate

Absolutely fuck all yet in BANES. If only they were so leisurely when the gloves on the other foot.

Yeah I filled in mine of the back of this, when it comes through I'm going to put it to one side to go towards some credit on my meters.
Just rang council tax enquiries at Sunderland council there. The lady advised that they have no way of checking whether my application was received, just asked that I saw a "thank you for submitting" message at the end - which I did.
She says that they were nigh on up to date processing the online applications last week so I thought "uh oh". I said I would give it another week and then she said I should resubmit my application as they'd only pay me once etc (I did say that really you should get a receipt/emailed acknowledgement to say the application was made as I really don't like having to potentially put all of my private info back into some random ether somewhere FFS).
She also reckoned that she hopes they will have a procedure they can follow for folks as they're being inundated with enquiries but it's not even the council that's actually dealing with the bloody rebates lol.

Some one was telling me other day if you don't have a direct debit you can't claim the tax rebate. I could be wrong on this info thou.

You are....well they are. Anyone occupying a property in Bands A to D ( and band E if there's a disabled reduction in place) at 1st April is entitled to a £150 payment.

In the case of DD payers it's paid directly to the bank once the first instalment has been confirmed as paid.

Everyone else has to make an application stating whether they want £150 paid directly or taken from their Council Tax bill.

There is no standard application process i.e., every Council could have a different method for the application to be made.

There's also a discretionary scheme, the Government leaving it to each Council to decide what criteria for the scheme.
