County Cricket 2022

canny end at derby

Just seen this. A phenomal game of cricket that. Watched a big chunk of the last hour or so, the bit I didn’t watch I listened to (on route to pick up a curry :p) and one of the rare occasions where a draw is the best outcome all things considered.

A perfect example too of how those that don’t know - who bemoan how after four (or five) days of cricket a result can’t be reached - will never be able to ‘get it’.

Almost the perfect four day game, but overall a great advert for proper cricket.

I think it’s absolutely brilliant when a four/five day game ends like that with all results possible, going into the last hour! probably the best cricket can get in all formats for a game like that going down to the wire.

It doesn’t happen enough though very rarely and guess that’s why I can see and empathize with non cricket fans sometimes and their lack of interest in the longer game, when you see the complete other side of the four day game as we did in the same round of matches with one team scoring 603 and another 433-2, with absolutely no chance of a result over the same format.

Personally I don’t think 4 out 5 matches drawn in the first division over the last round of matches is a good advert to attract new blood to the game, but that’s just my opinion.

But people complain that there are too many “result” pitches in the CC

Can’t have it both ways

No Jimmy Anderson for Lancashire today, wonder whether he’s operating on a ‘one on, one off’ selection rotation…?

Also no Mahmood and no Woakes.

Joe Root batting 4 for Yorkshire, wonder if that is significant

Defs the case for Jimmy, no Mahmood is more interesting, if he aint injured, indicates that he is in the thinking for the first test

Robinson plays his first match since Hobart for Sussex
