There's been a myth mainly created by the media
I wouldn't be daft enough not to admit they have good support,have a rich history and had some good sides,but there are a fair few clubs the same that don't get half the coverage and have been through far more crap than Newcastle have.
Have your loyalty tested down here for a few years ,then see if halfway up the Prem is such a miserable place to be sitting

We, as supporters, have no sway over what the media say.
My experience is that football fans are, in the main, the same regardless of the team they support. All clubs have a percentage of idiots however the majors are just normal folk who enjoy a day out with their mates, a few beers, a bit of piss taking and in most cases a vein hope of winning.
Halfway up the premiership sounds great to you. Your situation will sound great to a fan of Exeter, who in turn are way better off than fans of Bury.

I am beginning to think we are all being whoosed as no one in their right mind believes this.
- They are funded by the government (40bn of fx reserves and 80bn of Aramco shares recently). They do not have a magic money tree;
- The mags are only the richest club in the world by virtue of being owned by the Saudi's. Much of the PIF investments are very illiquid.
- The Chair of PIF is MBS and he presented the 5 year plan;
- No one proved separation. The Saudi's issued a royal decree to say PIF and KSA were separate. This was accepted by the PL with vague (unenforceable) threats if it was proven otherwise. There is a good chance MBS isn't even aware of the mags but if there is a vote of political significance somewhere down the line only a fool would pretend he would not have influence on this;

As far as I’m aware, there is currently nothing in the O&D test that prevents a state from owning a club. The written assurances given by the Saudi’s was that as shadow directors, the state (MBS) would not get involved in the decision making at the club.

When they say the Saudis promised not to get involved in the decision making at the club what they mean by that is they will actually make all of the decisions and have someone else as a spokesperson to pretend they are doing it. This is how it works.

if they arent linked to the saudi state in any way, why did the PL get a legally binding document that said the saudi state wouldnt "interfere" in running the club? did they do the same for abramovic?
in the real world, the crown prince will tell PIF and the puppet who is their chairman where to spend its money, given he runs it, and authorize them to buy another striker. then spend a few more million on missiles to bomb kids.
