New Music Releases Thread

I was just doing a banter with RHCP anyway. They’re absolutely f***ing shite
I have a friend who generally has decent taste in music (he’s the only other KGLW fan in my friend group, he was the owner who recommended Black Pumas and Fantastic Negrito to me etc) and he will defend RHCP to the hilt even though they’ve been shite for 20 years now!

Their fanboys can’t see passed how bad they have become.

The best thing they ever did was wear socks on their cocks. And that was shite too

There are new albums this week from Lights, Meshuggah, PUP, Red Hot Chilli Peppers, Warmduscher, Rheinzand, M Ross Perkins, Hannah Peel & Paraorchestra, Michael Weston King, Christian Lee Hutson, Molly Tuttle & GOlden Highway, Field Works, Alabaster Deplume, Pastor Champion, Noon Garden, Confidence Man and Neon Garden.
EMF also.

Not been much new music I'm excited by this year, so far. I like the latest Fontaines singles more than I have any of their other records and I thought the King Hannah album was cool, too. Mostly gone back to listening to Bobby Blue Bland, Marvin Gaye, Stax stuff. Out objectively and near enough objectively good I'm missing out on?

Most of the stuff I’ve been enjoying this year so far has been American punk stuff. In terms less obvious stuff that would be more likely to go down well here, I’ve really enjoyed The Kernal and Jeremy Ivey.

Albums of the year so far for me are Black Country, New Road, deathcrash, Caroline, Big Thief.

Aside from that there has been some decent stuff if not fantastic - Anais Mitchell, Yard Act, Mitski, Aldous Harding, Camp Coe

Second album from Pillow Queens is also released tomorrow.

That Caroline record really grew on me, I think it's class. Are you going to see them play that in the round gig in a couple of weeks?

If you do a quick jazz hands through the last 20 or so pages of the thread, you'll see my favourite album for each week so far. As mentioned, the BCNR album is ace. I'll also mention Al Doum & the Faryds again, as I really like that.

I just don't get them. I've tried and tried and people I respect love them, but honestly to me they sound absolutely shite

As an aside, i've recently got back into listening to new music after about four years out. Hopefully, i'll be able to contribute to this thread again soon!
